SCCA referencing mysterious parts? Brake duct kit? Heavy duty spring kit? et al.
I went through the SCCA rulebook for T2 just to see what they allow for the Z.
I've got an 06 Track so I'm assuming I have the track aero package. Not really sure what it looks like to be honest.
So where does one find the mysterious brake duct kit? I see a lot of people making their own PS kit but I'd prefer to run the Nissan piece just because it's easy and I (hopefully) won't have to deal with it once I swap the original one out.
Just looking at what I can do to keep the car as safe and reliable as possible. VIR is 2 weeks from today!

- I found the oil cooler kit on MyNismo for ~$700.
- The Power Steering cooler kit I can't find, but I see someone reference they paid 175 for it new.
- I'd love to find the brake duct kit, but don't see it referenced anywhere.
- Heavy duty spring kit? Is that code for shock mount reinforcements or something?
- The Nismo sway bar kit (also on mynysmo) is ~500. I am not changing suspension this season until I come to grips more with the natural balance of the car. So no desire at this time.

Springs are the T2 approved springs. Do a search I know member Rob Hines & Jason Henderson run T2 350Z's and have all the goodies. They can probably point you in the right direction. Rob lives very close to you as well.
i have helped with the Hines and their T2 car, i don't remember them having a brake duct kit. if they did, i would have been all over ordering one myself. They also run JRZ suspension, not sure on the springs.
Thanks. I was also looking over the two roll cages posted by John and James in a dated thread. Piper Motorsport here in VA did them, but the design clearly isn't SCCA approved. I don't know if that's because they were following the customer's requests or if because that's how they do them for the Z. I'm flirting with having a custom roll bar done but I'd want it to be SCCA approved and essentially the back half of a cage, should I ever go that route and turn this into a car that's no longer street reg'd.

Optimo send me an email and I will give you my phone number. Our race shop is located in Arlington, Va. just west of Ballston. We can go over all the stuff you need and how to find it. We had the brake duct kit on our car shsortly after we first started racing it 3 years ago. When we damaged the plastic undertray we never put it back on. We dont have any brake issues from overheating. Mitch Piper will build you an SCCA cage with no problems at all, hes good. Before you get too far you should look at what we did. Its one of the strongest cages that we had done and has door bars similar to NASCAR. There are several reasons for this which we can explain. Also we can help you with wheels when the time comes and maybe some take-off tires. I think it would be well worth your time to spend an hour or two to look at our car. Today I am taking the trailer up to Summit Point for this weekends National race. If you would like to come up we can put you on the crew list. The advice to register with Nissan is excellent and will save you a lot of money. We can give you the contact there too.

Today I'm skipping my meetings and putting fresh brakes on the Z (Carbotech + Centric). Thank you very much for the offer to come out to SP but I have to put in some QT with the family this weekend since I was away on business last week.
I'll register with Nissan later this morning and I'll get with you offline to come out and check out the race car. Very excited!
