TZC/THSCC HPDE June 21-22 Carolina Motorsports Park
Hey everyone...
We've got lots of room left for our driving school and time trial in a few weeks at CMP.
We've got groups for all experience levels, we'll also be utilizing their brand new wet skid pad set up. The renovations to the track and facilities have made this a fun place to go again. If you haven't tried it yet, I encourage you to give CMP another chance.
CMP is also a great place for beginners to do their first DE. It's a great learning track with a mixture of high and low speed turns, some elevation changes and varying camber turns. A multi-apex carousel, increasing radius turns, decreasing radius turns... it has it all really. Brake pads and fluid need to be upgraded, but normal street tires will be fine for beginners and intermediates.
Price for the DE weekend is $300 before any club membership discounts. The skid pad is $20 extra (required for beginners), the time trial is $30 extra (for cars that meet our TT tech requirements and driver's in the intermediate group minimum with instructor approval to TT.)
For those of you not wanting to spend the money for a full DE weekend experience, we are offering a skid pad only option for $40. This gets you seat time on the skid pad all day long and entitles you to hang out in the paddock, attend the DE classroom sessions, and get some hot-lap rides with some of our instructors when available. You can add the second day of skid pad time for only $10 more. We'll have skid pad instructors available to help you get the most out of your time there. This will enable you to experience extreme under and over steer and will give you a chance to learn how to induce, react to, and correct for the natural tendencies of your vehicle at a much lower and controlled speed. This is a great way to be introduced to an HPDE weekend.

that's the problem when you have a car that looks like 3-4 others on track.

Today was my first day on the track (ever). Spun-out once @ 14 and overheated my brakes in the middle of the third run. Today was definitely an eye-opener in many aspects. For now all I can say is big thank you to my instructor - Wally in the green vette. He is unbelievably knowledgeable and has the patience to help a nubb like me. Also ! BIG thank you to the organizers, everything is a smooth as one could imagine.
I wish I had some time to meet more Z club people there, but I am to concentrated on driving and the car, so I am honestly overwhelmed.
