Default warrenty issues

since all the crap going on with the new gt-r. i was wondering if any z owners were running into warrenty isssues for tracking their z's? i'm pretty sure the z doesn't have a black box. but doesn't the ecu store information on info such as VDC, and rev limit/ speed limit?

It's spelled warranty.
I think most ECU's store about thirty seconds of data so they can determine your inputs and the computer nanny's reactions. My UTEC allows me to review the last 30 or 45 seconds of computer readouts, so that's probably stored in memory in the ECU.

I am guessing it depends on the individual dealers.

The only warranty work I needed was a bad throttle position sensor. (They had to replace the whole throttle body.)

It happened at my first ZdayZ and I wanted to know if my Z was for driving or just for looks, so I told them what I was doing. (staying as high in the revs as I could, for as long as I could, even hitting the rev limiter, hard braking, etc.)

They said it should not have failed, even under those conditions, and they replaced it under warranty.

I am sure some dealers could be @$$es, but not all of them are.

I don't think it's just for tracking the GT-R but for using the launch control when is specifically states in the owners manual not to!

Why don't they just put a big red button in the center of the dash and write "DON'T PUSH THIS BUTTON!" in the middle of it?

Put a feature on the car designed to make it faster.
Brag about how fast the car is.
Then tell people not to use said feature.

I'd like to see where it says that in the manual.

I'll be more concerned about wrecking your Z on the street than worrying about warranty on the track.

i'm not bitter at all. i'm impressed with the z as a whole, but there are some things i would exspect out of a $40k car. like a real working lsd, not a vlsd. and i was just asking how the dealers have been to the z owners. granted its all up to the dealer to be cool or not cool. i just wanted to see if anyone was givin a hard time. i plan on tracking the car alot and if the rear end is making noise already its kinda not a good sign. although the tranny in my car is incredibly smooth. i've drivin alot of earlier z's and the 3rd gear issue seems to be worked out. the only mods i plan on doing is intake, y pipe, koyo, pads/lines/rotors, and a real lsd.

If you bought a new Z, why not take it back to the dealer and have them diagnose what the noise is instead of relying on third-hand account of others' experiences with a dealership. Why bash Nissan when you haven't given them a chance to resolve the issue.
