I do BMW events. And they won't allow any convertible at all. Even with roll bars or roll cages.
The S2000 would be nice since I get part for almost 50% off. But not good for the track...

12. All OPEN CARS including Z3s, Roadsters, Miatas, Cabriolet's and Boxsters shall show written proof of either an approved roll cage or an approved roll bar mounted such that it is 2" above the head of the driver and his passenger with helmet on. In all cases the clearance of 2" from top of helmet to bottom of roll bar when occupants are seated and belts are secured, will be enforced. Roll bars which are approved by: BMW CCA racing, SCCA racing, Vintage racing, or the BMW CCA driver school guidelines will be permitted to participate in Tarheel Chapter driver schools at VIR. It is the responsibility of the driver to provide written proof of compliance with the standards of one of these sanctioning bodies. A special waiver must be signed. Single passenger hoops and pop up "bars" shall not be approved for use at schools. The decision of the Chief Instructor or his designee will be final.
13. All open cars with roll bars or cages, shall have harnesses installed to the manufacturers specifications, and harnesses shall be used in this manner: lap belts tight first; then shoulder straps tight. The pit out staff shall check the harnesses to see that they are buckled up and are positioned right and are tight. The Pit out person is only reminding the participant and assumes NO responsibility or liability for the safe use of the harnesses.
This is from the Tarheel Chapter of BMWCCA, and is also quoted in a few other chapters.

red track model with 65k for $13,900 http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Not even a manual! lol!
Now if you want my opinion, this is the car you should buy. It is set up perfect for HPDE's or enjoying on a nice weekend cruise............but then again, I'm a bit bias.

Personally, I think you would love the car posted in #28. It is track ready, all sorted out and it only has 15K miles on it.
With new car prices out of reach for most and higher $ loans tougher to get, a good used car is now the perfered choice. Demand is up, so the prices are too. Besides, KBB is a guide and not a very strong one. They have lost some credibility due to the fact that they are sometimes way off from the buying public's opinion of a car and its value.

Fooshe, sorry your topic went sour like it did!
Your car has to much preparations done to it for my taste. *The only things I care for are a set of Koni dampers, SPL upper A-arms and a Y-back exhaust for a bit more sound. *Barely 2,000$ worth.
A BBK would follow next, but I'd be happy with an OEM Brembo setup. *And eventually a shorter ratio clutch LSD. * But that's way down the line.
The SCAB (Side Curtain Air Bags) is a huge plus on your car tho. *Just these might push me toward a new car.
Your asking price will make more sense when all the '08 cars are gone from the dealerships. *Between yours and a new VQ35HR equipped 2008 Enthusiast for 24k, financed on 60 months at 1.9%, it's a tough sale.

i saw a nicely prepped M3 on racingjunk.com just yesterday. I think, however it was caged. not sure you want caged for a street car.
friend of mine just bought an older M3 for $2500.00 with 80k miles. Stole the car basically. Need to find something like that!
