i dont quite understnd the challenge in this type of race ??? more horsepower = win ????? wouldnt this be better off posted in the drag racing forum ??? is this like saltflat racing, or like a gumball run across the country..........

Then I would say you need to read more about it...its not fender to fender and its not about top speed...the challenge is to navigate 59 miles down and 59 miles back with 59 curves in between and maintain as close to the "tech speed" without going over. Object is to come as close as possible to a "perfect score". I was 1:14 from a perfect score last year..sounds great right? 1minute 14 seconds over 118 miles @ 124 MPH....I came in 30th in the 110mph class...the winner was .008 from a perfect score...thats the challenge..not to mention you get to drive 59 miles at those speeds...I'll be doing 140mph this year..so yeah..driving around a track is cool..trying to go as fast as you can...or driving from 0 to 1 mile as fast as you can..ok...but driving 59 miles one way with 59 curves and elevation changes at over 120mph, taking a lunch break and doing it back the other way is where its at as far as I am concerned...
