Default Question re: rear diffuser

Having replaced my OEM muffler with an aftermarket set-up, I couldn't help but notice that the OEM muffler WAS the rear diffuser. With that being said, what have some of y'all done in terms of (perhaps) a DIY rear diffuser?

Single exhaust and bumper tuck. Just wish i knew if it is effective or not.

I've been toying with the idea of gutting the OEM muffler and running a 3" single exhaust through it. You get the aero benefits that Nissan built into the muffler, an OEM look, and you can save a bunch of weight.

betamotorsport, why don't go with a simpler aluminum or wet carbon fiber plate that almost get to the differential and bolted to the bumper? cheaper and effective.. you can even use the stock muffler to "lay down" the shape... or fiberglass the bottom as mold and do the "positive" in carbon fiber.

Rules. Adding a diffuser is a multi-point mod in NASA TT.

The wedge on the muffler is part of the "Underbody Airflow Management". It is present on ALL 350Z and NOT part of the optional aero package...

The rule might not apply the same way. Or at least allow you to replace the "paid for diffuser" with a larger affair.

The idea is to respect the rule to the letter...
