Default 24hr of Nurburgring this weekend

Long story short; my buddy over at hankook got a free trip to the race this weekend because he hooked up sponsorship for Carl Rydquist and the Levin Racing team. John from City Tires Online is there as well. Here's a picture of the Porsche that they are running. bastards!

Another note of interest is the Lexus LF-A race cars are entered in this one as well. The soon to be president of Toyota is going to get some seat time in the race. I'm surprised that they would let him do this considering the liability if anything happened to him. Yikes! Here's more info on this one.

There is a live streaming feed of the race at Adac 24hr nurburgring. It is about 3am there right now. But you better brush up on your German.

I just got back from the ring. The falken 350z was in 12th when I left. Unfortunately it was 8 laps behind the top 3.

Edit: oh yeah, one of the lexus was off the track getting extinguished .

Haha. living here has its ups and downs. Between hockenheim ring, nurburgring , and sachsenring I'm hitting one of the tracks about 2 weekends a month. only bad part is when you break something international shipping for the Z/G's is such a pain.

if i lived there, i'd have a "beater" track car that i'd take to the nurburgring all the time. something with cheap readily available parts, like an equivilent of an integra (whatever that is in germany). then i'd take my z to the track every once in a while. with as cheap as the 'ring is, i'd be there ALOT...

The ring runs about 22 per lap... not exactly cheap. but if your regular visitor you an of course buy multiple runs at discounts or a year pass. Yeah, I was thinking of making a race only beater, I just havent found a suitably cheap 350z, silvia, or skyline GTS-T yet.

yeah, i'd prolly buy the anual pass. i think it was a 1000 euro's when i was there, or was it 1500...

but even if you do the one lap at a time, say you do 15 laps (3-4 hours with a couple of breaks and lunch. thats 330 euros, imo, thats not that bad. or you can buy the 25 lap package, and its good for the rest of the year, so if you can always come back. for being the 'ring (sounds much more exotic to me cause i'm so far from it), i think 22 euro's per lap is a pretty good deal.

i mean i paid 500 euro's for 6 laps (including renting a car) and i was damn happy

as for cheap beater, now that i thought about it, i'd prolly pick up a 3 series, rwd, pretty good balance, domestic to germany, that means parts are plentiful and affordable... man, i really wanna move to germany now...
