The event was a blast! My Stock RWD class Z endured brake overheating (stock non-Brembo brakes are NOT up to a 100% assault on CMP, believe me...), clutch problems (refused to disengage frequently), and fuel starvation in the first Time Attack session (ooops!) and still brought me 6 hours home. Upgrades are in my future fo' sho!!!

Sharif and the Forged guys were flying, and Jeff Bender was turning some great laps in the Nismo too.

Can't wait for New Joisy!

CMP is notoriously hard on brakes. 3 really fast straights followed by 3 tight turns. Then there is the whole "Auto-X" sections of 11-13. It a lot better now they re-did 12 and 14. it will be even better with the 14 reroute and turn 8 extentions next year.

Jeff, I'm planning on doing both days. I would love to meet up with you on the way, but looking at googlemaps, it doesn't look like our paths will cross until Trenton, almost all the way there. I look forward to seeing you guys there again, I have loved the RTA events so far!

What are your overall impressions of CMP. Was it your first time there? Running a 1:30 is just retarded...good work!

You should post up some in car vids.
Haha, thanks! I actually tested with a Grand Am Koni ST team both in the racecar and street car Mazda RX8s about 4 years ago. I don't recall the new section before the front straight but I did remember everything up until the back straight.

CMP has a good mix of corners with a busy turns 1-2-3 to a sweeping section with multiple apexes, hard braking zones, decent straights, highspeed kinks and lowspeed corners. I think it's a good test track but not quite wide enough or having enough sweeping corners for bigger wheel to wheel racing. For a local track, track day/HPDE/Time Attack, it's pretty cool and I enjoyed being there.

I'm working on the in-car

Corners 12 and 13 are a new configuration, and 14 has been widened.

To address some of the other issues, turn 8 will be completely revamped, and well as 14. The entire track may receive an increase of width by 2013 to address some of the requirements for Rolex and other series.

In the past 2 years it has becomes quite a location for W2W for sub 30 car fields, and if they do what they say they are going to that will only grow.

In-car footage of Billy Johnson in the FX Motorsports Development Unlimited NSX which set the track record and won the Round 5 of the Redline Time Attack Series at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC. Enjoy:
