Carbotech recommends you use the same rotors with their pads. If you change rotors they recommend resurfacing and a pretty extensive bedding process (ctbrakes.com). So if you go that route I would just have 2 sets of rotors/pads. I was looking at rotor prices and generic ones can be had for $60-70 each if you shop around at auto stores, you just may have to order in advance. I actually will probably do that and have separate pads/rotors.

 

Another option to look at, which I run dual purpose, are EBC Yellows.

I started out using them and liked them alot. But as my speed increased and my tires got stickier (currently using Nitto NT05) they started to badly score my rotors. I would recommend these pads to beginners but one can outgrow them pretty quick. They don't have the heat capacity to be able to cope w/ sticky street tires and intermediate drivers.

 

I ran them at first and only got 1 maybe 2 days on them using street tires (615) I found it actually cheaper to just buy my wilwood BBK.

I talked to one of the tech at Carbotech, thats what they recommended 2 sets of their pads. I was going to run ax6 on the street and xp12/10 on the track. If you ran 2 sets of different companies pads then your would need to run 2 sets of rotor. I agree, pretty easy to switch pads out at the rack.

EBC's are terrible pads, would not recommend. Tried them before my carbotechs.

 

^ I think I'm just gonna get a new set of blank rotors and run the xp12/10 on the track and street this summer lol. Too expensive getting another set of ax pads......

Worst case if the carbotech's are too loud I'll just switch to the oem pads for street use. However I will bed the new rotors with the new carbotech's.
