Extremely sad story for everybody involved. But it's not a new one for anyone who knows the history of pro road racing. Go back to the Pauls, Whittingtons or Randy Lanier in the 70's and 80's and you'll begin to see a clear pattern. Racing and illicit activity seem to go hand-in-hand.
But look at the fields of everything from ALMS, Grand Am or SCCA World Challenge. Beautifully prepared racecars with barely any signage except for personal sponsorship deals. And if you think the prize money from these races pays for the operation of these multimillion dollar teams, you'd be sadly mistaken. Even before these troubled times, the majority of pro fields were made up of well-heeled privateers who could foot bills of $5-8K a weekend. And while not everyone involved in pro racing is a crook, drug dealer or bad guy, the lure and connection remains...

Lots of shops going under and some do pretty sh&*ty things to their customers. Impulse Engineering in Huntington Beach, CA just went under and the owners just walked away. The cars in the shop were abandoned with no notice to the customers and the landlord had the cops come in and tow the cars out to impound. Some cars are still in impound and will be sold at auction.
If you have a car in a shop be sure to physically check on it at least weekly.

I will tell you what, those Porches they had were fast. I don't know if that was because of the money but it's a shame to see this happen and all those guys have their lives shaken up that way.
Grand-Am is already struggling to survive. Even Indy is barely making it. It would be terrible to see one of the best teams in GT have to drop out because of this crap. I guess we'll find out if Farnbacher can find a trustworthy partner and keep the team alive in a few weeks at Daytona.
P.S. This is my first post as a 350Z owner. 2007 Silver Alloy Enthusiast w/ 43,380 miles. Manufactured Feb. 5, 2007, which happens to be my birthday. It was meant to be.

Spencer reopened Speedsport Tuning, his old shop. He was the head tech for FL and is a great guy, so go there if you are in the area and need work done. They are still located in CT.

I thought Farbacher was the money man, and Loles was the management talent. Either way, people steal because they have no morals or internal compass. Rarely is for need. As if I NEED to run a professional Rolex GT team...LOL.
I do feel very sad for the folks that lost their hard earned money. Hopefully some of it can be recovered.
