Do you guys mess with the standalone insurance policies? I'm looking to make either May or June driver's edge. I'd be green group as it would be my first event. I don't mind the $100 or so per event for peace of mind, but if it is not needed than I will continue to save it for more events, and brakes.

Me personally, No.
I have seen a few car altering events, not in green but yes for blue.
You can always call up your insurance company and ask if it's covered and you need to make sure they know it's not a timed event and it is an instructed event. That is if you want to admit to your insurer your going to be driving at ~100mph.
