Default Very wet autocross. (video included)

2 runs from a very wet autocross. (Both runs are clean and on course) My Z is set up for, and does well in, dry conditions. However it is an absolute dog when conditions are wet. Even short-shifting to third, and staying there, couldn't calm the throttle oversteer. (at just about any rpm) After these two runs I borrowed a stock-class RX-8 for my 3rd run and a bone stock WRX (with an auto transmission) for my 4th run. I was 11 seconds faster in the RX-8 and 12 seconds faster in the WRX. And today was my first time driving each of these particular examples.

Z+wide Kumho XS tires+ water = no traction. Z's and water don't mix well in general, but the mods I use to go fast in the dry make the Z even worse in the wet. -Still fun though.

*forgot to mention that both of the borrowed cars had star-specs*

*edit* Someone posted a short vid taken from outside the car. Not much going on, but you get a good idea of how much water was on the track.

And a run on dry pavement for reference. (My most recent event.)

XS's have been generally received as very poor in wet conditions........by all accounts. Fun looking video though.......

I posted a few months ago about how bad the XS's were in the wet, but I think this video/story quantifies what is meant by "very poor".

It was fun though.

the video of the dry pavement run was great! good speed. What mods do you have for your car? Also, what the heck is that thing under your rear view mirror?

Thanks. The mods are in my sig, (I am also running SPL A-arms and -2.8 camber up font) and that's a blend mount for my Valentine1 radar detector. I take it down at the track because I don't want it to cook in the sun.

Tint the windshield with really light ceramic tint. Problem solved. I speak from experience. I've had it before and the dash was literally cool even in the hottest days.

Autocross + Rain = Drift event!

I've never autocrossed in the rain but I have driven thorough some down pours during HPDE track events. Knowledge of where the track has the most grip is great and all but It simply comes down to who has the biggest *****.
