Rotors for 08 Nismo
As I am getting ready for the 2010 season I am beginning to order parts that are required and am now looking at the rotors. I have read some of the older threads and gathered some info. I figured I post the same for discussion and/or as a reference for other folks who are looking to change their rotors.
This is my second season doing HPDE's and I use my car mostly for the track days. Most of the street miles that I put are due to driving to the service shops for an inspection and/or driving to the track. I currently use Carbotech XP10 (Fr) / XP8 (Rr) and have used stock rotors with no problem so far.
After previous season my front pads are almost gone and am replacing them with a new set. I haven't checked the rotors but I think they will need to be changed considering I did about 9 HPDE's and 10 AutoX events last year.
mhoward1 -- suggests a blank Beck Arnley rotor HERE
Sisko99 -- states HERE why sticking to a blank rotor is a good idea when using racing pad.
Convinced that all I needed were blanks I went ahead and ordered the following
CENTRIC Part # 12042076 {Centric Premium Rotor} - FRONT
CENTRIC Part # 12042079 {Centric Premium Rotor} - REAR
For people who are concerned about Centric and have never heard about them, they own Stoptech

So following are some of my questions
-- Do I need brake ducts? Are these mostly DIY types. I do not plan on going to a BBK anytime soon. I think there is a lot more driving skill that I need to pick up before thinking about it.
-- Switching Pads after track session - Last year I used the Carbotechs both on street and track and the noise it makes on street is really loud. I have tried to ignore it but I am sure it scares the bejesus out of the other drivers on the road when I stop at a light.
I am worried about mixing two different kinds of compounds on the rotor. When I went from stock to Carbotech pads I did proper bed-in and even got my rotors re-surfaced to get the stock material out. So what are my options?
Following are few I found from other threads
Tac-M brings a nice point of using similar compound to swap without worrying about mixing different pads - HERE
SOLO-350Z swaps whole Rotor/Pad combination to avoid issues with Bedding.
-- Cryo Treated Rotors - I read that Cryo treated rotors typically extend the life of the rotors. I know Centric offers them but I was not able to find Cryo treated blanks. They had slotted rotors.
How much does it cost to get it Cryo treated? If you got this done, where did you take it?

Well i also swap pads out between events, i just lightly scuff the rotors when i swap pads. If you are serious about tracking your car i would really look into 2 piece rotors to protect your bearings.
Have you driven on the streets with XP8/10 combo? If yes, how do the Bobcats compared in terms of sound?
I just checked the prices and they are only 30$ cheaper, the only reason why I was looking for the other street pads is to save some $. For 30$ I wouldn't bother changing them for each track day. The stock pads on my Nismo are some 90-95$ at the dealer and the Bobcats are 154$.
