Default Bridgestone RE-01 market value today

I was trying to gauge the value of RE-01s today since they are discontinued. I found a local seller asking $160 / tire and wondering if thats a good deal? Local tire shop is quoting me $230 / tire installed for the new RE-11s. Figuring mount/balance to be another $30 - $40 / tire, is it worth getting the slightly cheaper RE-01s?

The RE-01 is a very good tire, but in truth the close out price last year was $129. I bought 8 of them. I bet that the local seller bought a bunch at that price and is making a bit of profit on them. It's still cheaper than new though and is still a good price overall.

There are some places in San Jose, John, that will mount/balance tires for $20/wheel to save you some cash. I have been using Skip's Tire and Auto on Blossom Hill, and they do my 18s for $25/tire, but Vex Motorsports has pledged that "we" can get them done for $15/wheel. I have not used them yet though.

hey scott. Thanks for the info. $15 a tire is heck of cheap. I'll check them out.

btw, last week autox was whack for me. I had a busy morning and was late to the event, only to find I needed gas, then came back after refueling and had a flat tire! Only got 2 runs in. err...
