Moving on from RT615s. Suggestions?
So this is the third set of Falken rt615s I've used. I enjoyed them, good handling, predictable tire, but the time has come again to get new tires and i want to move on to something better.
I use my car strictly for track events, however i feel i can still improve on street tires and am afraid of taking the jump to a competition tire like a Toyo R888 or full on like a Hoosier A/R6.
Any of you guys ever been in my situation? Suggestions?
Ive been thinking of the Nitto NT05, its still a street tire but all reviews say they grip far better than the rt615.
Thanks !!

NT05 is a great tire, thats what i run now and i came off 615's, but you can always look into the new 615's , they are supposed to be a comperable tire to the nt05, star, ps2 etc etc

NT-01's are nice, but I just put on some used RA1's for an event. They were better than the NT-01's in my experience. I had problems with the rear breaking loose with the Nittos, but not the Toyos, despite their identical tread compounds. Maybe it's the sidewall construction? V710's would be better suited to time attack. I used to run them in autocross, and they are a compromise between Hoosiers for grip and Nittos for wear. RA1's last forever, too.

lol, got that wrong.
NT01 and NT01 new edition.
I don't use Nittos and I got it completely wrong in my quick post. It was suppose to be NT01 and NT01.5 as in version 2 of the tire
CN - Thought I knew what I was talking about, ended up I didn't.

If you don't want to make the jump to an aggressive race tire, I think the NT-01 is the best choice.
For the price, there is no better tire out there. I've been through 3 sets on my CRX, and would still buy another set when my current set is worn out. It has more grip than a street tire (though I think the RE-11, RS3, XS, Star Spec aren't too far behind), and if you aren't traveling too far you can drive them on the street to the event. Hell, I'd drive them everyday if I wasn't worried about replacing them every 3-6 months.
The thing I like most about the NT-01, and what I think you'll like about them coming from a street tire, is they still talk to you when you are pushing them. The aggressive race tires only talk when it's too late. If you hear an A6/R6, you already done messed up.

I had rt 615 (originals) than I switched to kumho xs and the jump ahead was noticeable... now I just got the nitto NT-01 and I'm curious to see how much I can improve my lap times.
