Default Tire Pressure Issues Blog

I just recently became a guest blogger on a racing blog called Racing Ready. I'm not much of a writer, but here goes nothin! I just thought some of you guys would be interested so I'll post a link.

This time it was about my tire pressures, which almost ruined my time at the last autox. Thankfully I had lots of friends who told me what I was doing wrong. I guess thats how you learn!

I figured I would share my info, so here's the link

http://racingready.com/2010/05/27/ti...s-tuning-tips/

Feel free to post any reply on here or on the Racing Ready site. I should be doing more of these in the months to come.

Interesting info you present here, tire pressure on track days is always an issue that affects me. I notice that the pressure varies greatly as the sun starts to go down, I was still expcting the tire pressure to come up and instead the times fell dramatically for me. Maybe you can expand on this situation, also about finding a baseline tire pressure to start off the day also please.

Thanks guys!!

I have seen I big difference in sun location as well. Being in Texas, there is a HUGE difference between morning sessions and mid day. You may want to invest in a pyrometer. Autozone has a really cheap one ($30 I think) it's an OEM brand. This way you can actually see what the difference is.

What type of tires are you running?

Anti-DNF = lmfao!

^ I am running Nitto 555's & if I am not too lazy I usually like to run my OEM wheels and Potenzas, most of the time. The Nitto's are nuch grippier with the tire pressures lower in the rear, I prefer to run off the Potenzas due to them throwing off marbles on long hard runs. I will look into a pyrometer on Tuesday, we have a open track day coming up soon.

youR not 1 of them DNF types, r u???

Not if I can help it! I usually stay clean. Except for when my anger gets the best of me, then I'm a cone killer! One time I was at a divisional autox and decided to take out a few gates to show my car who was the boss! Unfortunatley, it showed me that it was that boss and not me: I broke the brackets on my front skid pad...oops
