1st track day impressions OMG!!!!
I can't contain the excitement.
What an adrenalin rush!!! The whole experience was crazy.
I signed up for a northeast track day with Comscc with my first track day at New hampshire motor speedway. New Hampshire as told by the instructors is one of, if not the most technical track in the Northeast including Limerock park and Monticello as a barometer.
I was set up in run group 4 and we had 4 sessions approx. 25 mins of track time each. I'd like to think I progressed each time out.
Let me just say, I have such a great new respect for my car and others who race. Without actually ever having experienced the thrill you truely cant understand or describe the feeling if you have never done it before.
The feel of the car going laterally wheels spinning powering you through the apex of corner at high speeds, cars on your bumper as you shift into another gear or braking out of a high speed straight into a turn in. JUST CRAZY!!!
For those who have never done this, you are missing out on one of the most exhilerating experience. I thought drag racing was a rush until yesterday. It cannot compare. Your mind at first is on mental overload having to be aware of where you are, where the flags are and what they mean and if they apply to you or others, all while keeping your line on the track.
It was a great experience and highly recomended to those who enjoy actually driving their cars as oppossed to having it look pretty.
I swear my car begged to be driven hard and she seems much stronger after the days events. She definately held her own amongst higher powered cars with better set ups, until I regressed(ego) dropped my line trying to compete rather than drive my line.
I realize that is not how you do it. I can't wait until my next event.
I may have some video from my 3rd run to post later.
Just wanted to share my impressions.

I think we've all written that same post verbatim ... welcome brotha!!
If you're interested at all in sim racing to complement your real-life addiction, iRacing has NHMS laser scanned. You won't find a more accurate representation of the track (any track in iRacing for that matter.)
BTW... if you decide to sign up for iRacing, be sure to use AsphaltVentures@gmail.com as a reference!

I was disappointed there were not any other Z's there. I really wanted a point of reference for set ups/tire pressure etc..
My car is definately making some strange noises it didn't make before.
The only things i changed just prior (friday)were adding Hotchkis sways to stock suspension and Hawk hp plus pads, oh and Bridgestone RE760's in the rear.

Question:
My car is insured as I drive it on weekends etc, however I don't believe I would be at the track.
What do you guys do? What if another vehicle hits you or vice versa?

You're screwed in most cases. I've talked to my ins company, and competition or not, I'm not covered at a place that could host racing.
Mine used to cover HPDE, now it covers nothing if i'm at the track. It's a chance i'm willing to take to have fun.
More info for the additional coverage here:

I talked to them about coverage for my track car, but I believe the minimum policy was $1000/year, and I wasn't down for that given my personal statistics.

I can't even describe it. I can't drive on regular roads anymore. Its like i feel (but don't)have to redline it or im looking for the Apex in a turn.
I really respect the capabilities of the z. Just unreal.

True. The Z can handle very well, despite of it being pretty heavy.

Try doing AutoX next time
There are some great things we can all work on in the everyday drive that make it that much more fun.
Heel/toe shifts (even though they maybe a thing of the past soon)
Vision - where are you looking when. It's something we all have to keep fresh
brake on/brake off - Most people get brake on pretty quickly, but a smooth brake off take a bit more practice.
so on and etc.
It makes my standard morning commute a lot more entertaining.

believe it or not my instructor never explained heel toe technique to me, yet faulted me for it in the review.
I rev matched on down shift, but at times i was tenative coming out of one corner into another thinking i would lose the tail if stayed on the gas through the shift.

what do you mean with "stayed on the gas through the shift"???
