Hey guys,
Curious if anyone that tracks their Z has upgraded from the VLSD to a clutch LSD such as the OS Giken. I dont have a wheel spin problem like a few friends of mine with open diffs have but I know many fast drivers that also have a clutch type LSD in their car. Anyone that could share their lap time improvement/thoughts would great.

Yea pretty sad right? Been focusing on other things, mostly seat time. Also, upgrading to a locking LSD is points under NASA rules.

VLSD to OS Giken here, traction is now almost unlimited, even coming out of slow corners. Lap times, well to much got changed on the car and this last race was finally at a familier track. 2.8 second, but i feel the driver and other mods helped a lot.

Yea its all a learning experience building this car...got budget in a a Stoptech bbk this year as well to get ready for the 2011 season. I am really cooking the OEM Brembos now.
your tires are likely what is cooking your brembo's
the OS is a great unit...it's downside is that changes to it's configuration are not easily accomplished. But, it's a terrific unit, and the smoothest clutch LSD on the market for these cars that I have used (I've used all of them at this point). It is highly customizable, but really has to be done by OS.
The NISMO by comparison is more aggressive, but changing lockup % is simple (1 output shaft comes out and you rotate the internal 'cam' to one of 3 positions).
We have both (and others) ready to go if you need. Maybe a nice combo deal with the BBK
If you get it from us, I can also set you up with a really good installer (if Roger @ Japtrix doesn't want to do it, as not every shop likes doing the differential stuff). He is in Florida, and probably has worked on some of your competitions setups as well.

Its not that I am experiencing fade with the Brembos, its just that I find myself waiting for the car to slow down. As I get faster and faster, I am working on compressing my braking zones and I found myself a few times this fast weekend going too deep and missing my turn ins. Sure braking sooner is a solution but the car wont be competitive in NASA PTA/TTA. I have ridden in Zs with the Stoptech 6pots up front and those things could stop a freight train!
Carbonetics Carbon LSD for me....work fine
It is in a car that is new to me, but wheel spin is not an issue...and no understeer/oversteer issues....
not sure of the setup on the Diff...will take it apart this winter and check it out

When was the last time to rebuilt the caliper ?
What fluid do you run?
I'm not familiar with those pads but you should be able to generate
good pedal feel with even stock brembos and have it consistent

The fronts get rebuilt twice a year, going on month 5 on the current build. I run Motul RBF600. I think you may be misunderstanding what I am experiencing and what my goals/needs are. I have chosen to campaign the car in a class where most cars will pull me down the straights. Since getting more power out of the car in its current setup isnt possible, we need to make it up in handling and braking. The brembos stop the car fine early to midway through races. Towards the end, you can really start to feel the weight of the car as you enter the braking zone. I think theres no question that a bigger Stoptech caliper/rotor would not only provide a more consistent braking throughout a race, but also allow me to further compress my braking zones to make up my lack in the straights.

We run ducting, though the layout of the front end of the Z doesnt make for the most effective design. Plus, the 95+ degree heat of South Florida summers doesnt help, so happy to see it getting cooler!
