I originally tried to master the heel-toe process using the animated technique illustrated at the top of this page (pg. 2), however, I then re-taught myself using the rolling-ankle technique (as I and Gary had described earlier). Once you get used to it, it's easier to modulate the throttle since your heel isn't accustomed to controlling the throttle. I'm 6'2" with size 11 shoes, and I have ZERO problems with the Z's pedal placement.

Yeah, I think the animation there is more for actual race cars...their pedals hinge from the bottom instead of the top. I've always used the " heel and side of foot" method and have had great success with it. I don't know what the problem is that some of you are having, but I've found the Z to be MUCH easier to do this in than any of my other cars (size 10 shoe). I can even do it quite easily with my Simpsons on and they are much thinner than my street shoes. Maybe you're just not braking hard enough...you do have to brake a bit harder than you normally would on the street so that the brake pedal is low enough to catch the throttle with the side of your foot.

Try not to get frustrated. This technique takes quite a bit of time to master..even when doing it everyday. I've found that using this technique on the street is the only way to go. When you're ready for the next level, try using it in heavy stop-and-go traffic: it will force you to learn how to do it properly from a variety of speeds and engine RPMs (I've even taught myself how to recover from missing a gear). When I get on the race track, it's so easy (in comparison) that I don't have to think about it much.

nice car...no one would ever suspect you had one of those 5AT's in there, I like mine too, I don't think many people realize how hard these things shift.
