Well, home from another NASA race weekend. Video below is for Saturdays race. I qualifed 5th overall out of 15 and went on to finish 4th overall. Car ran great in the 50 degree weather and the new tranny was great. Put down a new best of 1:40.2, though the Hoosiers I was on are just about heat cycled out.
The weekend was going well until half way through the Sunday sprint race when overtaking a car that I had lapped once already. I I had passed the guy on the outside since he was offline for whatever reason. I take turn 8, a 170 degree left hand hairpin. I give the guy, driving a 1990 Honda CRX, plenty of room on the inside in case he chose to take it. He locks up the brakes, and slides into my rear quarter panel. The guy was 8 seconds a lap slower than me and said he didnt see me. If he didnt see me, then why was he offline?!?! I guess he didnt see me either when my tail had passed his nose into the braking zone. The guy wasnt even in my class, but the hit was determined to be a racing incident and no fault was addressed. Sucks when a $4000 racecar hits your $35k+ racecar. Looks like the damage isnt too bad, and his car got the most of it. My car, being 15 years newer, and 800lbs heavier helped. Taking it to a friend that owns a body shop tomorrow morning and hope to have it back running in 4 weeks for the race at PBIR. Appears to be cosmetic since it drives straight so hopefully the suspension is solid. I am little sore, I estimate I got hit at about 25mph. My elbow hit the left door pretty hard, a bit bruised and sore. My left shoulder must of hit whipped back and hit the seat bolster pretty hard so thats bruised. Could of been alot worse.
Here are some pics and the video from the clean race Saturday.

ouch. Hopefully no big hidden dmg Awesome vid as usual, you almost could have passed that corvette in the beginning
So I'm assuming you won your class since the other 3 cars looked like prototype race cars?

I was the car in my class, so yea I won
That corvette is putting down 600+whp and was racing by himself since the other entry didnt show up. I love his active wing!

Here is how my weekend went...better than yours... I only had a minor dented fender and yellow paint on my RF wheel

I was about 2 seconds slower than the POs best times, but he was a local "hot shoe" so I feel pretty good for my 1st race weekend. I have never run on Hoosier R6 before...BIG CHANGES from TOYO RA1s...gonna take me a littlw while to get used to the break-away characteristics of the R6.

if you're gambling it all - which would be silly...
vid's pretty awesome. hit looks ok/// check ebay, I saw a silver fender for
around $100 shipped there yesterday, hope it's the correct side.

Thnx, but I don't need it. This is a case where "it will buff out"
My RF wheel was turned right just enough to keep the Honda CRX from hitting the fender solidly. And the car that hit me was behind me at the start and just BARELY tapped me...but put a long Donut on his driver side body.
I will post a pic today of the fender

Dropped it off at the body shop this morning, told the guy to take his time. The hit also cut the tire so these Hoosiers are toast. The tires cost more than the repair! The shop is a family friend so I am looking at 800 to 1000 bucks for the body work.

So turns out the frame was bent from 5 years ago, when it got rear ended pretty bad after only 2 months of ownership. The dealer did the work on it then, and obviously did a poor job. I never noticed any weird handling but it has been repaired by my guy at Andrew's Collision. Should be out of paint by Friday!
