Default Off-season checklist mods for next season

Ok,

I have a few track days from my initial season. I have an 03 touring no brembo's and stock 18's with a spare set of touring 18' rims.

If I had the choice and freedom I'd do a tire/wheel package and bbk and suspension.

Realistically during the winter I will do one or two of the above and piece-meal the rest Which is the most important bang for the buck and order of importance?

Standard answer... not what i was looking for. The modifications are dual purpose as I enjoy the car in the good weather as well.

I anticipate tracking more often next season.

Of what you listed, then tires are most important. Fluids, and proper pads are more important than a BBK. Suspension is fine for lapping on the Z.

But if you want to look cool doing it, then you need all three that you listed

Tires, pads, and brake fluid all rank top of the list.

Hence the reason why I ran RE-11's with Carbotech pads and super blue racing fluid this year on the stock 05' non-brembo brakes

But if I could get what I want over the winter, it'd be stoptech 13" kit and 17's

I have hawk race pads that i swap out and im on Bridgestones in the rear and Direzza's front.

My braking/traction don't inspire confidence at current levels. I can't go and drop a ton of cash right now on a bunch of things, so what is the most advantageous for me/cost effective.

I have a spare set of 18 rims and was thinking getting a set of r-compounds for those, but then I'm still thinking lighter weight rims and I need suspension and brakes...

How old are the current tires? Are they worn down? Direzzas are pretty quick tires, I would say not much slower than something like an R888 or the like. The "uber" street tires these days are extremely quick, and I would honestly say stick with those for the time being (although wouldn't hurt having them dedicated to the track). What size are they? 255?

A lot of people here will attest that suspension didn't really make them much faster. The Z doesn't roll much stock compared to most cars. Does your car have a VLSD? If not, that would be #1 on my list. If you really want to play with it though, maybe some stiffer sway bars are cheap.

Direzza 101's(front tire) possibly but they pushed a bit entering striaghts and the rear potenza's re760's got squirrly as soon as they heated up. stock sizes 225/245 f/r on heavy touring rims.

I have the touring with vlsd. Was thinking some Enkei's but if i updgrade wheels I still need tires for the street/track or vice versa..

Current mods: exhaust/spacer/hfc/tune and sway bars already.

Get some nice +-200 treadwear tires in 245/40 and 245/45 or 245/40 and 255/40 for your track setup. Then also grab some dedicated track pads. Also look at your bushings for wear and get some front camber arms would be my start.

Tires. Pads. Or tires, BBK with Pads if you can afford it. Then boost.

Asking 1200. For rims, I have Black RPf1s. The are 18x9 +12 in the rear, 18x8+ 30 in the fronts. front tires have a lot of tread left. Running sumitumo tires. The rears are worn and will need replacement within 700 miles. Asking 1200. That's with the CF RPF1 center caps. And lastly I have GTSpec front and rear lower tie bars. Used for about 1000 miles. 150 for both. Won't separate. Let me kno bro!!! Lol.

The Dunlop Direzza Star Specs are WAY better than the DZ101s. Grab a FULL set of those and call it a day. I'd go 245 or 255 all around, which are fine for the 8" front wheels, and then you can rotate them.

^^ Will that result in a neutral feel? I've never changed the dynamics before.

Running the same size tires front and rear will take out some of the car's natural understeer, which most desire for autox or the track.

255 r's will fit ok on the stockers? Are they squissy on the sidewalls?

I run this set up...however when i put a rear wheel up front it hits against the caliper/something

I dont see how when the offset/dia is the same

Cause the car has a 8.5 +33 and 8 +30 , different offset and width front to back.

245 and 255 combo is great, it helps with understeer, but will be easier to drive than a square setup. Try the 245/255 combo first, then more to square later.
