Default Coilover external reservior mounting

Just trying to figure out where to mount the reserviors for my new coilovers. The front res has a 44 inch long hose off the lower shock body and the rear has a 27 inch long hose. Where do people typically mount them?

I'm sure it would be easier on a dedicated track car, but mine is still a daily driven play toy. I'm picking up some -3 clamps to cleanly route the hoses away from suspension and tires.

The front i was thinking about somewhere on the firewall, but don't think the heat of the eng bay would be a good thing, and the rears i'm just lost. I looked up the instructions on Motons website and nothing is really said on where to install them, guess they figure it's not a problem on a full gutted and modded race car.

Please give me some insight, pics would be great.

The shorter the hose then better the response. The rears can go into the spare tire well (goodbye spare tire) and the fronts can go in front of the spring tower. Engine compartment heat isn't an issue.

Found this on Fontana Nissan's Flickr page, not terribly detailed but may help with the idea. Fronts are in the upper corners and the rears are prettty clear but attacthed to a roll cage so that may not help too much.

If mine had QD's I would do the rears in the car. I will try the front and see if i can get them under the plastic. Full fledged race cars have different things and less things in different places.

There you go, Len. Just turn your car into the Fontana Z and you'll have plenty of room.

Thank you, sucks my hoses are way to long for that. Well rears are temp mounted for now, just need some hardware to finish them up properly. Looks like the rears will be mounted on the bottem of the trunk. Fronts are next, tomorrow evening. Then i can sell off my BC's.

I will bet whoever had the shocks before had mounting rules to contend with. John is correct about shorter is better, though I would not call it better responce as much as I would call it better damping or more consistant damping. IMO make the hoses shorter and mirror hippie's mounting system. This is true even is your using really awesome material in the hoses. You've got good shocks now, it's not a area I'd compromise. IMO.

Don't think I'd break the seal on a shock and be forced to get it serviced just to use a shorter resovoir lead, I'm sure you'll find a suitable spot.

All installed now, need to get some aircraft clamps tomorrow to properly mount the rear reserviors tomorrow. 900 pound front springs and 700 pound rear mounted as true coilover. I need to order some new springs, swap the 700's up front and get some 450's for the rear.

Actually shocked on how the ride is right now, smoother than the BC's i replaced.

Are you using a tender/helper spring with those? What length springs are you using on the front and rear? Just curious.

None yet, need to order a set for the rear, and 8 inch springs front and rear.

Need a set of these http://www.amazon.com/Genesis-2-5-He.../dp/B000W7IF44

And a helper spring like these http://www.paragon-products.com/product_p/cs100-2.5.htm

Then also ordering the proper rear springs (swift) from SPL along with their camber and toe arms.

Hey Len, you know there those are helpers not tenders. Helpers are for the droop action of the shock (to keep the main spring from bouncing around at full droop) and Tenders are the ones that are active in the intial bump action giving a progressive action. Both useful but have completely different roles.

Yup, no need for tenders that I know of for my set up. But I do need helpers for the rear.
