Default Lexan Windshields

Next things for the race car is to get some more weight out of it. I figure given what is already out of the car, doing a Lexan front, quarter window, and rear window would be the best to start with. Any one with links, ideas, pics would be appreciated. I think I would need some kind of custom front windshield for the conture, not sure.

Thanks!

Joseph

Having raced a few cars with polycarbonate front windshields I've learned its the last thing you want to do in your weight saving plan. They will scratch easily despite all the claims about scratch resistance. Expect to replace it every two years and almost immediately when a "friend" cleans it with paper towels and Windex.

Well aren't you supposed to use tear-aways with those windshields?

I have heard some good things about the racing shields lexan windshield, not bad at 500 bucks or so. They also make the side windows and rear as well.

That's common at the pro racing level but its a pretty rare site at club races. It takes some skill to install them and these guys have some how-to videos.

Nope, Lexan windshields, quarters, and rear windows are free now as of two years ago...at least in PT/TT..and have always been legal in ST/SU. However, you must still meet your minimum competition weight.

Ill probably do the rear window and quarter windows to counter the weight of the aero and some. My shop can do the fabrication, and shields makes the quarter windows cheap as well as the rear. Wont be done for a little while, still recovering from my off season spending spree!
