It's in the Northeast, but yes I have a couple VQ35DEs ready to go, rebuilt and 0 miles. We had 3 in normal rotation in the DE race car but have now moved to the HR so they're just sitting in the shop.

Gentle hands on the shifter. Its not a drag race, take your time, and let the internal detents guide the sifter. The most common way to blow an engine on the race track is with the shifter.
For me it's always shift with an open hand and a gentle push. The shifter usually knows where to go, but will go other places if you TELL it to.
I've done 4th to 3rd in a Spec Racer Ford. Had to write a $3,800 check for a replacement engine (the car was rental) when I got back to the pits. The team got it installed overnight and I made the race.
Don't know, but I have been tossing around the idea of backdating/updating my BSP car with an HR. I was hoping you would do it first...then I could learn the foibles, etc of the swap
.
.
I've heard the RevUp's are much easier because most of the parts outside the engine are interchangeable. I believe you need a new ECU though and possible harness.
I've also heard the HR's are way more complex and difficult. RevUp or replacement DE would be the way to go.

Or you can use a Rev up motor and swap back to Non-Rev cams to run it as a normal DE. You would just run the timing cover and cam gears off your old motor.
How do the rules account for "Frankenstein" engines?
Rev up block, DE heads... That way you get some better rod bolts and some help against that happening again (not a whole lot but some help). I'm pretty sure the block and head are fully compatible, but I dont think the DE cams fit in the Revup heads without other mods.

But I think a straight HR transplant would be nice (but costly), ECU, Harness, engine and exhaust peices. Being a race-car there are some considerations that get left behind and simplify things a bit. But I'd love to talk to someone who's done it.

Oh, that sux, dude. I remember when I popped the motor in the Momentum test vehicle in Carolina.
At least you were able to make it back to the pit. Glad your driver was okay. Could have been ugly...

P.S. Hey, Len...was that you at the Meadows Mall this weekend???

That was me, had to swap out some tools and buy a couple more. Then some shopping for maternity clothes with the wife.
