I remember that too. My recollection is that it turned out to be exceedingly difficult. In fact, I'm not certain the project had a successful outcome.

Probably a lot easier in a race car with a stand alone ECU

So I ended up buying a 80K mile 2004 350Z "automatic" engine for "cheap" shipped from Danny 832-467-4400 @ Nissan Unlimited in Houston. He is looking to build some business with Racers on the Forum...so ping him for parts and let him know I refered you...Engine confirmed to arrive Friday, right on time...all good so far!

I found them here on My350Z.com, with all positive ratings...so we will see. I will post up if this turns out to be a good source for used parts.

This deal includes all engine accessories accept AC compressor, has full upper/lower intake, fuel system (injectors/lines/wiring) a set of HR headers , Power Steering and Alternator, and 60 day warranty.

nissanunlimited.com

They also have a FleeBay store...

Good to hear!

You going to be able to get the engine in before the next race?

Update: Engine showed up today, just as advertised. Will begin preparing the new engine for installation...mainly moving the cooling system mods over.

Update;

while moving the clutch & PP over to the new engine I found a cracked plate in the Carbonetics 2-piece Carbon Fiber Clutch assymbly....S H I A T E !

But found a replacement plate for ~$230...so I am back on schedule...and a whole lot better than $2400 for a complete new assembly

...and missing another race

Engine & Tranny go in this weekend, one week late..tried to install this stuff last weekend...Why?

Purchased new OEM 350z throw-out bearing...found out that I needed another type of bearing for the Carbonetics Clutch.... ordered it and have it in hand now. Turns out that Carbonectics uses a non-350Z Nissan OEM type bearing, not sure what it is supposed to fit, will check that out and post the info.

Wanted to replace tube headers with OEM HR Headers to lower my NASA points to stay in PTB, and found that the HR headers Header-to-Cat flange is different than the DE headers, so I went ahead and purchased some Z1 Motorsports Test pipes...

So last weekend I performed some long overdue home projects to make the Sponsor happy, and relocated the battery into the trunk using a Summit racing sealed battery relo kit...

Next Event Aug 6 & 7 at Road Atlanta, so I have 2 weekends to finish up...that should be enough My car Co-Owner/Driver will run TTB, I will run PTB.

I have pieces/parts of pistons and rings in my Intake manifold

and the oil pan is full of the same thing

But I have not pulled the engine about yet, just focused on getting the new one in and making races

Do you need a set of OEM DE headers? I have them collecting dust in the garage.

Sounds like yours blew as bad as mine did 2.5 years ago
