Race Steering Wheel
Why did you change your steering wheel out?
I'm thinking about it, but there's no real reason I can think of to do it other than my mod bug.
Is it a comfort, or size, or grip reason?
Which do you prefer? The OEM (G35) is like a school bus wheel.

After i got a bucket seat, the shoulder bolsters made using oem feel too big. The grip and feel of my personal wheel feels great to me fwiw. Another bonusnis its lighter than stock, no airbag too, and looks pretty good.
Im planning to swap mine for next season. My stock one is getting pretty wreaked from my gloves. I raced with my windows down in the rain once and that pretty well did it for the stock leather.
Also looking to save weight, smaller wheel is easier to work with, especially with long legs.
Just do it already :P

I went with 330mm.
QR/Tilt are $$$. If you guys still run sliders on the seat then you can go without them. Fixed seat mount is when they're actually useful.
Going to get a setup next month. Wek Sos has combo packages most under $500 on various wheels/hubs/QRs: http://www.weaksauceparts.com/store/home.php?cat=1927
Options I have tried:
Short hub, quick release and non-dished wheel
Short hub and dished steering wheel
Never tried the long hub with a non-dished wheel. Ended up liking the short hub with the dished steering wheel (350mm). Like the look of it and yes, save weight in the process.
As far as feel, the stock wheel is nice and if you want that kind of "plush" leather feel, need to pick your aftermarket wheel carefully. Find a local shop that carries a bunch of wheels and try them.
The positives of having a quick release - 1) Look cool and can set your steering wheel on the dash at car shows (or hang it somewhere)
2) Can remove the wheel at night and makes the car less likely to be stolen and 3) Can quickly remove steering wheel which makes it easier to exit the car (in case of fire)...mostly for track use when in a racing seat.If you don't go with a quick release, yes, all you technically need is a hub (short or long) and a steering wheel.
Check out topspeed autosport, they hooked me up since I ordered everything from them, and shipping was really fast!
700 that's expensive! My set up was in the 500 range including momo steering wheel, quick release, short hub. Check out the vendors classifieds, most of them will meet or beat each others prices and compete for your business.

If its a street car, leave the stock wheel and airbag in place. If its a track only car then, in most cases, the rules require the removal or disarming of the air bags. Pegasus, IO Port, Racer Parts Wholes, Speedway, BRC, etc. all sell weld on quick releases for $60.

$700 for a wheel and a quick release is BS.
