Default Best spring/shock combo???

I don't know why, but im not really a fan of colovers. So, anyways, my question is, what is the best spring/shock combo for my weekend/autox/spirited driving Z?

As of now I have tein springs with stock shocks at 45k, RPF1's with 265/285 RS3's, progress sways, GT Spec tie braces.

It handles very well, but im looking to get a little more out of her. I want to have a well balanced form and function car. So I want it to look good and perform well. I love the drop of the GF210, it just makes the stance perfect. Would GF210's and Koni yellows do what I want, or is there a better combo out there?

did you mean KONI yellow? never knew konig made shocks. If they did I'd stay far away from them...

Anyhow, if you want more why not go coilovers? They are def worth it in the end. And any high-quality adjustable shocks will work with your springs. Koni yellows being one of them.

Yes, that's what I mean, sorry about the typo...

And coilovers are just so damn expensive. Not to mention I wouldn't adjust anything. Sways have been on 3 years and have yet to adjust them. I would do the same thing with coilovers. So why not just some nice shocks and stiffer springs and be done. I have had the car 7 years and only put on 45k, so im not too worried about it.

Also I don't compete in autox, it's more just for fun so I don't care what class they stick me in.

Anyone running the Tokico D-spec shock & spring package?

The Koni Yellows are usually a good option.

If you aren't going, and don't want to worry about doing any adjustments, you may also want to look at the Nismo suspension from a 2007 or 2008 Nismo. The spring rates are stiff and the setup is made for a Z. They pop up every once in a while in the for sale section.

The only downside is it doesn't lower the car much over the stock suspension.

Springs: Best you can buy for reliability, durability, and performance w/o coil over is swift spec-r for a street vehicle. They have a race spring but you don't want it.

http://www.swiftsprings.net/products-ss_spec_r.html

Shocks: Koni Yellows are great for a simple shock setup and will do well to compliment this spring.

Id say out of the price range, and Id still go with a custom length swift spring over eibach any day with Motons or JRZ.

I just found them more predictable. I switched out eibachs for swift in 930 de car and haven't turned back. My Apexi Coilovers were re-valved and micd and are now running swift with helpers and I couldn't be happier. I wish I would have just waited for some Motons but at the time money was tight and it is still driven on the street most of the time.

I think once you have committed to spending for Motons, JRZ's or Penske's, what's a few extra bucks

I also think most of us, including the OP, can't afford, or can't justify the value within our budgets, of any of those...but we still dream

I just ordered the Tokico D-spec combo. Will let you know in a few weeks how they are. I have read nothing but good reviews on them.

Probably TC Kline or TrueChoice Koni. I seriously doubt you can get away with D-Specs with those springs.

TC Klines aren't made any more...

Truechoice koni's are a bit pricey. I have TC Klines that have been redone by truechoice (Shortened, revalved, etc).

You can almost get penske DA's for the cost of the Phase IV truechoice set-up.

Looks like Phase II , comes with springs are $1600. Would probably be perfect for the OP, and he can pick the rates he wants. T2 springs are 690lb front and rear, if he were to go that route, i would probably suggest dropping down slightly in rate.

I knew you cant, I remember reading up on them at one time and saw that almost no one runs them on street cars so I guess thats for a reason.

The tein springs are way better than the tanabe's... Linear vs progressive... I would just change out your shocks for more performance.
