Street /Auto Cross Setup
Hi Guys,
I am pretty new to this forum but I search it all the time to find common questions. Im sure this is on here but I have been able to find more detailed specifics.
I need to get a new set of rubber and, was seeking some recommendations on what tires would be best suited for Street The majority of driving will be on the street but I really like having the grip of great tires. I don't mind spending some money to get something reasonable.
My questions.
1-what would be the best tire for me? (currently looking at bridgestone RE11, considering the ADVAN, and star spec.) Are they are with more grip?
2-I was thinking that I may be able to increase my tire width to gain more traction can you put 245F and 265R with no problems?

I don't know if the stock '06 wheels have the same "engineering" to them that the '03-'05 Track model wheels do, but if you don't have an '06 track model (18F/19R) then you can go with the OEM Track model wheels.
While they're marked the same size (18x8F/18x8.5R), the Track model wheels are actually 5/8" wider at the bead lip than they are at the measuring point at the base of the bead.

so i can run those tire sizes without upsetting my traction control or causing rubbing?
Also I am unfamiliar with Hankook tires in the performance game. I thought they were really budget focused. I would consider them if they are great performance tires, but i don't mind spending a little more

The RS3s are the current badass tire of choice. They're also cheaper than many of their competitors. I ran an event this past weekend after mounting the tires the previous Wednesday &, once they were slightly heat cycled, absolutely loved every second of driving on them.
I've previously raced on RE11s & loved those too, but they're not worth the extra money vs the RS3s as the grip was equal.

ok thank you for your replies. The RS3 are available in those sizes however I am having a very hard time finding them in Canada.
Does anyone have any good tire shop recommendations in Upstate NY, our the GTA in Ontario? I have no problem ordering off Tire Rack, but would rather go to a local shop if they can keep prices somewhat close.

I am in the market for new tires for autox too. Will 245/40 and 265/40 have a lot of sidewall flex and have any problems that I would not have if I just run the stock sizes for a 03 track?

That will work. I had the stock V1 Touring rims so I actually went with a neutral setup running 245/45 rear with 245/40 fronts.
