Anyone here install a BD Racing Cage?
I am looking to get a full cage made. I been talking to cage builders, of course for the money, I can get an amazing cage done. However I saw this cage http://shop.brokedickracing.com/Lemo...Z_p_10305.html I was wondering if anyone here has seen one installed? Of course it will be nothing like a custom made cage, but I wanted to see if anyone had pics of it installed or input?
Thanks
Thanks
These are the same cages as http://www.swracecars.com/index.aspx by the way. Again, they will never touch a custom cage, I know that of course, I just wanted to see if anyone here had one?
wow, for that price i see why you would be interested. But then idk, it is after all a safety item and if you ever need to use it (god forbid), you sure as hell hope that it does what it suppose to do.
Do you really need a cage? what about just a roll bar like the Kirk Racing one? It's not as cheap as the BD one, and it's only 4pt. But it's scca approved (not sure if its even approved for w2w racing). I bought one from a member here and am happy with it.
The other alternative is the Autopower 6pt roll cage. People on this forum seem to be happy with it. Again, it's more expensive than the BD, but it's still way cheaper than a customed cage.
If you're planning to do some autoX and HPDE, these 2 should be good enough.

Yes, this is going to be in a race car to be used in N.A.S.A so it needs to be SCCA approved. I just spoke with Kirk, they actually can make me a full 6pt cage for $695. $35 more they can make it an 8pt. And for an extra charge they said they can make me Nascar style door beams that extend into the door after we cut out the door panel. This sounds like a decent option from a good company. Problem is it is not notched already so it is a pain in the ***!!!
I wouldnt put one of those in my car. I have a custom cage built by a good builder and the fit is very tight to the car and still there is very little room to move around in there. I cannot imagine how bad one of these cages will be as far as fit goes.
Furthermore you are talking about a cage here. The thing that is going to save your life if you flip over. Probably the last place I would cheap out.
And finally, if you cannot afford to put a real cage in the car you probably should re-think if that style of racing which requires a cage will be sustainable for your budget. The cage is really one of the cheaper items on the list when it comes to costs of W2W racing.
