Brian Peters STR 350Z
Mike the motion ratios were determined by a reputable engineer. Last z he did Springs were 900/1300. He is using a motion ratio of .56 I believe in the rear and .75 up front. After driving the car with Barbato we both agreed the car needs way more spring out back than 800. I'll provide feedback tomorrow.
I don't remember exactly. But it might of not been able to get it where I am now corner balancing the car. It's right at the limit
Any advice for cutting down the Kinetix A-Arm without damaging the internal threads?
My angle grinder died during my last home-improvement project so I'm hoping to use a bench grinder. I imagine the internal threads will not be happy?

I did New Jersey yesterday with the new spring setup 1000/1200. I will mention that I am a novice driver but I'm not afraid to find the limits in the car. Before with the 1000/800 setup the car would push heavily and then oversteer (very difficult to control). The car seems to be better balanced now with the higher rear spring rate. I also added more camber (went from 2.38 to 2.7Land 2.6R), took out toe 0front and 1/16 toe rear toe, and disconnected the rear bar. On the faster NJ course I could really feel the inside wheel spin. On throttle exiting corners you can't put the power down with the stock diff (pedal to the floor cars not moving till there's traction). Mike you hit the nail on the head in your autocross thread. Most important mod is the diff. I'm now taking donations for the diff fund.
Additional specs
08 touring coupe
3217lbs without driver currently (I'm 167lbs)
(Potential 100lb+ weight savings converting to single exit exhaust and lighter seats)
290whp 257ftlb (93oct tune, it would be interesting to see a race gas tune for the HR)

Pretty sure STU requires cats.
Z is in the shop now getting a new sub-frame with legal bushings. I already installed my Kinetix A-arms , and a stock clutch/flywheel combo, so the Z will be 100% STU legal when I get it back.
-Then I get to work on making it STU fast.

The allowance though is there to replace cats with a high flow option, that can be up to 6" further down stream of the original final cats, and that if you can stay within your 6", you can consolidate down to a single cat.
Now, because of the y-pipe, we can't get down to one cat, but legally we can easily swap out for something like BERK, Stillen, or Random Tech cats using the stock manifolds.
Under this layout, Long tube headers like the PPEs would be completely legal, if you can get two HFCs in the Y-pipe within 6" of their respective flanges.
If you go cat-less, then it's off to Street Prepared with ya.

Thanks to Bobby and Chad at CIN Motorsports, I now have a sub frame with whiteline bushings.....
My car is now 100% STU legal!
-On to the wheels, tires, suspension and HP....

Thanks, Crows Landing went pretty well. Struggled in first heat day 1 finding any grip on the long-unused surface but by Sunday morning things had gotten scrubbed in adequately. Ex-STU competitor and friend Robert Irish flew out to codrive. He found a few handling oddities that I think were primarily the result of that particular surface + aging Hankooks. The courses themselves were visually repetitive, transitionally intensive, and too high on the average speed. They could have favored the Z, hard to say.
In the mean time, the car's getting some more power (PPE!) and maintenance work completed over the next few weeks. Then it's only a couple of test events before Lincoln. September's coming fast.
Hope I'll be meeting a lot of you guys there this year.
On a side note, if anybody has solid comparative STU rally cars vs. 350z data out there, I'd love to see it. Results alone aren't enough, I'm looking more for car swapping and/or in-car footage. Also, does anybody have any word on C5's being prepped and run anywhere?
