TCS will need to be turned off, ABS may not like it, luck f the draw if you have problems.

Why would this potentially cause ABS issues?

The same reason it will cause TCS issues.

Look up Yaw sensor removal or a kill switch installation for yaw sensor on this forum. Best free mod I done on the car.

No you will not have problems. Im running 245/275 RE-11s & they are amazing. You wont want TCS on. Only problem you may experiance with brakes; when I switched to RE-11s I really couldnt engage the ABS because the tire grip is so high. So when brakes became new weak link I installed Akabono BBK from Z1motorsports. I have got about 8 , 8 run events, 2 ZDayZ , and alot of around town driving though not my DD on this set of tires.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Non-stock size tires can trigger TCS / ABS

SOHO's writeup on the yaw sensor was extremely informative.

To give you a little idea of the performance the RE-11 provide, when I bought my Z the guy had BFG G Force Super Sports. AutoXing on those would typically finish 15th- 20th overall out of a field of 50. First event with no additional mods, I finished 3rd overall & have maintained a finish higher than 10th ever sense. You will not be disapointed

^do you work for bridgestone or something? lol

If i do the yaw sensor kill switch i should have no problems with TCS being either on or off right?

are there tire sizes that would fit those wheels without needing the killswitch?

would a 17x9 square setup be preferable?

Won the past 2 events with my BFG G Force KDW2

I hated my RE050 and RE040 and decided I will never buy Bridgestones again.

:-) No but I have been so happy with mine I feel compelled to highly recommend. As for the guy not liking the RE050 what version did you run? My wife's G8 GT came standard with them and nearly 400hp those tires hook hard. And I got 45k miles out of them. And that's hard driving including dragons Tail runs. They are why I put Potenzas on my Z. In fact the Ferrari Enzo came with RE050A I have pic on my phone that I took at exotic show. Tires also depend on driving style. So to each their own

NOT a fan of any Bridgestone RE0 series and I've tried a lot of them. Their RE-11s are ok but nothing spectacular.

I had the OEM RE050A which lasted about 10k at which point the rears looked like slicks, replaced them with RE040 and swapped those out about 2k miles later since they were so bad. Got BFG G-Force and just put on my 2nd set of rears this summer. The 1st set lasted almost 30k miles with autox events.

Also, 4 BFG tires cost about the same as 2 RE050A or RE040.

If you turn the yaw sensor off via kill switch then your TCS is disabled automatically. I believe you need shut off engine and restart with the switch in on position in order to return back to factory settings. Since I don't use my car on street I eliminated the yaw sensor all together. With yaw sensor enabled you will still be able to turn on TCS on and off as before.

In order to do without the killswitch there are many option look in the tire section I believe there are sticky's there to deal with those. Off top of my head 255/40 F and 275/40 R would be easiest to find in some stickier tires. I run square to help with tire rotations so not too familar with this.

If you will go with 265 tire stick to at least 9.5". The tire will fit better and will reward with sharper turn in.

You do not have problems with ABS or traction as you keep on running staggered sizes. If you were to run 275 front and back it is very likely you would experience some issues. On my 03 I did not have an issue on street until i took the car to first auto-x and event with TCS off I had ABS issues from first fast run.

a square set up is the preferable way to go in autoX.

I WILL be doing that as right now i have a 245/275 stagger and it sux. My question would be would a smaller squared tire like a 245 or 255 on a 9" rim be prefferable to deal with the yaw issue?

Would not help. The algorithm used to activate stability and ABS is computed by the difference between front and rear axle. In the end running miata sized tires would not help you in this regard.

Your best bet is to do the kill switch and run a decent size tire all around 265/40 18 is a good start.

To run a square setup and be computer happy, 275/35 front and 275/40 rear. Square only in width.
