Default Autocross. First time. Over 30 runs. Yay

Past weekend was my first autocross event. Was at AAA speedway tracks parking lot. Put on by Speedventures.

Very fun, super hooked. Got over 30 runs.. would have gotten 40-45 runs if something didn't happen at the end.

Word of warning to everyone who goes to any event, even autocross. I specifically chose autocross (between autox and track day) because the risk is very low for damage to my daily driver. but some ****in *** hat dipshit piece of **** in his mustang ran over my pile of stuff. Yes, he rammed it with his car. Then he hid in the corner of the parking lot like a little ***** and I had to ask people who did it. He basically shattered my tool box and all my tools and when i saw the pile my heart sank. I saw my backpack. Opened it up and he crushed my $1200 lenovo x230 laptop. He refused to pay for it, he just kept saying sorry sorry but he would not take responsibility for his actions. Some ****ing people are such scum, karmas a *****. I guarantee you he totals his car in the near future.

I did not even bother with the police report but it would only be nice to have if i was going to take him to small claims court. Which I could. I dont know why but I felt like being nice that day. I didnt lose my cool, talked to him very nicely and knew my only option was to file the police report, get his info and then file a suit. He had an out-of-state plate which means he needs to come to california to show up in court and I could've made his life a living hell. Normally out of state means I have to file in his state but with the exception of situations where he is actually present for the incident and it happened in my state. I was presented with a decision, should I take him to court and make him pay? A part of me wanted to, even if it meant costing me $1000 to only get back $500 just to see justice. But I think I mellowed out as I've gotten older. People will get what they deserve. 5 years ago I would have beat his face in and smashed up his tail lights probably. Probably.... hah!

Oh yeah and I can forgive which I was able to do but this ****er.. do you know what he said after I showed him the laptop and he gave me a thousand meaningless apologies? "you shouldn't have left it on the ground bro". Yeah.. like I put my laptop on the ground just nilly *****. It was an entire PILE of my **** neatly placed together right next to my car just like everyone else at an autocross event. I would hate to think what would've happened if he had actually hit my car. If he had just gotten out of his car, picked up all the **** that he ran over and scattered and came up to me and apologized and pleaded with me saying he has no money, then I would have let it slide much easier.
/end rant

I'm going to go back to autocross the next chance I get. Next time, I'm ****ing parking in the corner like a loner and bringing my bicycle to get around.

Wow, you got a lot of runs for an autoX. If you ever go to an SCCA event, only expect 4-5 timed runs.

Also, I've been to a handful of autoX's and never had any problems with people hitting my pile of stuff.

More go pedal needed. Last poster needs to work on the camera angle...can't see poo.

Get early on slaloms and attack...

I do need to mount the camera higher. It was very last minute.
Not sure if I can apply more go pedal. I am on some not-so-fresh skinny Hankook V12s on crappy parking lot surface. Also my car is stock so it's very quiet.

I actually was driving a lot more aggressively the first half of the day.. lots of gas esp out of the turns but the problem was the tire pressure. i was running 42 psi cold so I was sliding around everywhere. After lunch I decided to experiment and let out some air and hit 38 cold. It was better. The runs you see are at 38 psi hot and I could noticeably feel that the car would pull itself out of the turn rather than skid outward.

Anyway, my car doesn't handle like yours in the video. I'm sure the tire pressure had a lot to do with it so next time I'm going 35psi cold. My sessions got cut short by the ******* who ruined my day so couldn't experiment more. But it has/had massive understeer. It got better as I released pressure from the tires but man, in the first half of the day it was real bad. The car just would not go where I want it to, it would arch real wide. That last big turn after the slaloms resulted in heavy understeer followed by oversteer and correction to make the sharp right at the end.

I'm going to go a few more times, experiment with my tires and then look into some suspension parts that can help reduce the understeer.

My s2000 would go exactly where I wanted it to, it was so light and nimble and I can see how it's a great autocross car. You point and turn and it just turns and turns and turns, super balanced. Need to get there with my Z.

Btw, you only get 5 timed runs at scca events?? damn what fun is that? that is like 5 minutes of fun for the whole day geez
