modifying kirk roll bar
I have the kirk roll bar with the x brace and my research tells me that the x brace is just for show and really has no benefits. I don't track my car other than going to the drag strips few times but would like to try some other weekend events in the future for fun.
That being said should I remove the welds for the x brace and add the parallel bars or just add the parallel bars and leave the x brace, or should I not even bother ?
I was told to purchase the standard kirk bar but at this point I think its more cost effective to just add the parallel bars.

the idea was to add these parallel bars to make it comp approved.
Honestly, be better off starting over with a bar to your design. Looks like the diagonal support has a bend in it? That wont pass for sure. Is bolt together front section certified as well?

That diagonal brace was designed with a bend in it to allow for greater rearward adjustability of the driver's seat. Speaking as an SCCA tech inspector, that cage would not be approved for any door-to-door race series (same for NASA) due to the single side impact bars. Bolt-in cages can be approved, but have to meet safety requirements in the GCR.
just FYI from scca rule book, seem like no bends allowed in hoop or diagonal.
The main hoop (behind the driver) must be the full width of the cockpit for all cars. It must be one continuous length of tubing with smooth bends and no evidence of crimping or wall failure. The main hoop must maintain a single plane
Main hoops shall incorporate a diagonal brace. The brace shall either be in the plane of the main hoop, or extend from the top of one rear brace (described in 9.4.B.2.c) to the bottom of the opposite rear brace. A
