Smile Starting back into SCCA in hawaii

Hello all,

I'd like to share my SSM 350z that I'm still tuning and playing around with here in Hawaii as I attempt to dial in a decent setup on a budget. Mods are listed below as well as suspension settings. Any opinions to help would be much appreciated for this chassis. Pictures and videos posted for reference from this past sundays run. Thanks all!

Suspension/Brakes:

HKS Hypermax III Sport Coilovers
Kinetix Front/Rear Camber arms
Kinetix rear traction arms
Stillen Camber brace
tanabe 4pt underbrace
gt spec fender braces
gt spec front lower tie bar
gt spec rear lower tie bar
Technafit Stainless Steel Brake lines
Whiteline Differential Positive Power Kit
Whiteline Rear Traction Kit
Hawk HPS pads (f/r)

Wheels/Tires

Bridgestone re-11's (275/40/18 square setup)
18" Enkei RPF1 Matter Black (+15)

Alignment settings

Front Camber: -2.5 (Max for kinetix arms)
Rear Camber: -2.4 (Need to purchase SPC toe bolt to correct)
Toe: Stock all around
Caster: Stock
Front Dampening: 3 clicks from full hard
Rear Dampening: 18 clicks from full hard
Sway Bars: OEM
Spring Rates: 11k front/12k rear (linear)

I am going to install my front power grid endlink and whiteline heavy duty front sway (setting middle hole) this weekend. I have also just completed a amsoil GL-4 flush on my transmission and amsoil 75w-110 flush for my vlsd just before my race this past sunday.

Car looks good. Haven't done any SCCA events before, but I run with the local BMW club here for Autox. I may start doing some with PCA as well.

If you're looking to be competitive in a class, you're not far off an STU setup at this point. you'd have to pull some bits off (aero, CF, arm, braces) or negotiate with current local STU drivers to let you play, but the rest of your setup looks like a decent baseline.

Do you need to worry about being competitive in Hawaii? Not like he's going to nationals in this car.

I'm currently debating on applying for a grant offered for SCCA hawaii members to have most of our expenses paid (flight, travel, lodging, food, fee's, and vehicle transport) to go compete in nationals in nebraska for 2015. I may bring my car thru just to get the experience of a lifetime as I am still stationed here in hawaii. Due to quite a few mods....I'm a bit off from STU and the SSM class is pretty competitive here with some good cars in the running as well as experienced drivers. Any opinions or tips would be great to help me improve, in the end, I'm competing because its great fun and I love to drive so this environment caters to that. Anything to help me better my skills or vehicle, I'm all ears to as I know my knowledge is limited compared to the experience of others

Understandable..
But prepping to the rule limit of a class, even if not going to nats makes comapring to other drivers in the class easier, less "but i don't have..".

And i hate it, but it also makes your math racing more "accurate" if trying to compare outside of class.

To me, these can be valuable tools in benchmarking myself as a driver to see if I'm actually improving. Something that can be very difficult to do in autox being we never see the same course twice.
