he said "useless for road racing" and clearly stated hes prepping the car for the SCCA Runoffs. Hyperbole yes, but Id say his statement was accurate.

Stopping from 130mph is fast. But how many times are you braking like that in one lap? Also how many hot laps do you do in a row before a cool down lap?

You are welcome to look up videos of Thunderhill Raceway Park.

As much as I dont like my brakes and have to run weird pads to get them to work enough, I wouldnt call them useless.

Check with Turbo Toyz http://www.turbotoys.org or Z1 Motorsorts http://www.z1motorsports.com...They are both involved in Spec Z race car builds and support...and can get whatever you need used.

But you likely knew this already

BTW: I used the RockAuto rebuilt calipers for years...but they have not been available recently. Even Centric doesn't offer rebuilds anymore. I have not found a good place to exchange purchase rebuild calipers (likely due to the low availability of the cares) So I just rebuild them myself..but that is not the 100% solution. It is hard to clean up the piston bores and clean them well enough for my taste.

I would love to see another Spec Z in the SE in 2015

Us too

Plans are not 100% yet, of course, but this has been one of the things that keeps coming up in editorial meetings. Unlike an autocross effort, though, where we can still drive the car to the events, the actual building of the car is secondary to the logistics of the events. And while our schedule does afford us some time for events—demands it, even—it can be difficult for people in different departments to coordinate that time off. When I'm slow in production, it's because editorial and sales are banging away getting me materials to make magazines with.

But this is definitely a hope of ours.

I'm assuming you'll be at the NASA Nats at Road A in August? David Wallens will be stopping there on his way to the Solo Nats in the Z. I may stop off in ATL on the way back and pay a diplomatic visit to Z1. They're a respected player in this market and we really should reach out to them and be pals. But with limited staff and limited time it's hard to cover all the bases.

Understood...work gets in the way of racing all too often...

Yes, I will be the acting "Spec Z ****" for the Eastern Championship event. So I will be inspecting Z cars for "creative engineer" and out right cheating/never read the rules infractions. I will be at the track Thursday - Sunday. (unless an unhappy racer takes offense to one of my rulings)

Please come by the track as you can. As you know Z1 will be there in force trying hard to win with Brian Kleeman driving. I am sure Russell Floyd will be there for at least part of the event...most likely the Championship races Sunday.

Note: Z1 is about 65-80 minute drive from the Atlanta Airport (excluding random traffic fiascoes)...So if you come in Monday after the event, plan you time accordingly.

If you have not met Russell, I would be happy to introduce you. I am very honored to have had Z1 as the primary sponsor for my Spec Z (until I retired from driving and sold the car last year).

*We Spec Z guys love your 350Z project...it brings great visibility to Nissan and the 350Z!

Cheers!

Thanks man. The first print installment got bumped out of the October issue for space concerns, but the November issue looks like it will have the space. It's also the issue that goes to SEMA, so we like to load it up with project cars.

Right now the plan is for David to drive the car out to Lincoln for the Solo Nats and fly back, while I fly out and drive back. I'm probably leaving Lincoln around Thursday afternoon, so I may actually be able to make it to the track in time to catch some racing Sunday. Got a couple stops planned on the way, though. If I get held up, I might take it as an excuse to dawdle enough to see some folks in Atlanta on Monday.
