As a racer who raced at Road Atlanta back when Nissan was the corporate sponsor (who can forget the Nissan bridge as you swept up from the infamous Dip?), history repeats itself with a new tie-in with Virginia International Raceway.

After watching videos and hearing stories about how nice VIR is, it looks like I'll have to plan a visit in the future. Who knows? Maybe the SCCA Runoffs or another classic race will once again draw Nissan racers from around the country to compete at this NE circuit.

The tieup with VIR makes sense from the standpoint of being associated with a major racetrack. The NE remains a major automotive market and this deal reinforces Nissan as a performance brand. As for the number of Nissans actually racing, that's unlikely to change anytime soon. After racing at tracks across the country, it's not uncommon to be the only Z33 (among just a handful of Nissans) in a field of 100-200 cars.
