pics from ** LAGUNA SECA ** (SV)
Here are some pics of Ed (Eagle1) and myself in action at Laguna Seca with Speed Ventures. Unfortunately, didn't see any Zs there! ... stay tuned for the video clip (let me know if you're able to host a large file).
... enjoy!
Waiting to enter the paddock area in the morning (I'm in the middle of the shot):
Eagle1 through the infamous 'Cork Screw':
Eagle1 just exiting the 'Cork Screw' trailing a S2000, WRX, and an E36:
Me coming out of the final turn onto the front straight being trailed by a 'silver' dude:
... while the men are hard at work out in the field, this is what the ladies are doing! Got the latest issue of Cosmo?
A few artistic shots of my G with my cousin's S2000 at the end of the day:
Clint (THX723)
... enjoy!

You know, I didn't even think to find out where that 'extra' sound check station was. Since my powertrain is bone stock, there was no worries in the noise department.

Hrm, only tires and suspension. Were those other cars all newbs or just not driving very aggressive? Not saying that the Z or G is slow, just that I thought the WRX was faster than that and the Supra!
I just wanna go race my car now. Sigh.

Having established that, I am wondering about Laguna Seca. Does it pose a particular problem for the Z/G35? In most instances that I can recall, the Z does very well against some of its immediate competition (S2K, Evo) on tracks like Buttonwillow, BeaveRun, Nurburgring, etc... And you're 1:56 time on street tires seems very impressive; but the S2K guys are down there at about 1:43 or so on SLICKS, and I also read a believeable story about some novice driver running 1:54 on a Vishnu I Evo with street tires: http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthr...ghlight=laguna . Also, this Speedventures link shows a stock HP, street tired Evo running 1:48 and a street tired S2K running 1:49: http://www.speedventures.net/track_r...a&results=&s=C
And THX723 who I believe is an instructor ran 1:55 with race tires BEFORE his brakes crapped out on him. Knowing that both you guys are exceptional at the track, is it the Z that is the weak link at Laguna, or am I missing something else?

I call BS on the 1:43 S2k and 1:49 stock Evo. No way. S2k at 1:43 maybe with a Supercharger, coilovers and slicks and an awesome driver, but not with just slicks. Also 1:49 for a stock Evo on street tires, no way.

I looked at it, still doesnt say what modifications the car has, which brand/model tires are considered "street" "race" and "slicks".
If that S2000 is really turning 1:42 it has to be lightened considerably with a turbo or supercharger, no stock engine S2000 is going to turn that type of lap time. Same for the EVO, what "street" tires does it have, and it definately doesnt have a stock motor.

Notes:
"Slicks" denote full racing slicks.
Generally thought to be 4+ seconds faster than DOT-R's.
"RACE" Tires are Dot-R tires; eg. Hoosier R3S03, Kumho Victoracers, Yoko A032R, etc.
"STREET" Tires are non-R compounds; eg. Bridgestone S02's, Falkens, etc.
Generally thought to be 4 seconds slower than a good DOT-R Tire.
"- R" denotes a weight-stripped race car
The link gives you some indication of engine mods with the horsepower. We don't know suspension, but it does tell you if a car had been weight-stripped. For example, you can see an S2K with 240HP and street tires doing it in less than 1:50. The 1:48 Evo supposedly has 271 HP and street tires. Neither seems to hae been weight-stripped. This is all assuming that Speed Ventures is trustworthy in this regard.
