Default Vortech V-3 SCi for 03-04 DE

Has anyone installed forced induction in their street/track DE? I've had my eye on this kit for a while now, given that I live in CA and this kit is 50-state CARB legal. This to me might be icing on the cake when the car is otherwise "done".

Watched a few YT videos and it's an interesting kit with a dedicated piggyback computer so no ECU remap is needed. This obviously won't work if you're running a tune, but for CARB legal concerns, it's a great option imo. Power output is about 410, +120 crank hp. It's not monster power for the money, but it's "enough" imo. You might disagree, but I've had a 550hp Shelby and didn't like it. Call me crazy.

Coming from the Mustang world, I had a Roush M90 on my 2006 Mustang GT back in the day. At 5 psi, it had 430 hp. In AZ, without restrictions, I installed a smaller pulley, CAI, tune, and got it up to 480, or 9 psi. That was fun, just about right for that weight. The 350Z is 400 lbs lighter so it would feel similar with this kit.

The kit may be carb legal, but flashing ecu out there isn't

Gotta have a way around that by now right? I know for Subaru lame *** Cobb just bent the knee to CARB and now anytime you tune through Accessport you'll be running a CEL and wont pass inspection. ECUTEK worked around that for tuners. I'd imagine by now theres something for the Z. Fawk everything about Cali tho.

And OP to answer your question no...nobody has boosted their Z on here /s lol. Check out the Forced Induction section you'll get better information over there.

The vortec supercharger comes with a add-on computer that piggybacks the ECU.

You literally added street in there and you will get better results searching the FI section for a FI question as I've said. Tons of people in there track their cars. Get your panties out of the wad they're in.

Nice. use sarcasm and then when anyone challenges you, gaslight them. is that how you deal with relationships in real life too? an insult demands a response, but apparently you believe you're entitled to an insult without a response. **** off.

The vortec kit for 350Z that I'm looking at is carb legal with a piggyback computer to manage injectors, etc. so no tune is required.

fwiw, I did post this in the autocross/track section, and a well meaning moderator made the mistake of moving it to the "babysitting" section of the forum.

Thanks for the tip.

also, I just found the ignore list feature in the full site which is not visible in the mobile site. so I won't have to engage with idiotic people. I thought it was strange that there was no mute/block feature but this forum does it differently.

Aw man. What's the fun in that? If you do that, you'll be missing out on like 75% of the posts here.

I'm certainly not an expert in FI, I dabble.
Z1 contributed heavily on my project and tune, I trust them implicitly.

The new ECU is likely strictly to get around CARB tuning rules/hacking the stock ECU. Prolly a good safe tune Jon built. I won't ask about the Roush or GT 500 but I would question whether it's worth spending 80% of the car's resale value on a 19-20 yr old chasis/engine. Hard to justify the cash outlay if no plans to keep a long, long time unless you won't miss that $$$$.
GL!

Edit-
The kit osts exactly what the the car would sell for at premium.

I bought five cars in the past year and a half to try them out, cars that I had never owned before. All used and fairly cheap like the 350Z. sold one, two more will go up for sale soon, and I'll have two left. I'll explore a couple more models like an E46 M3 before settling on two or three keepers. I don't buy expensive cars. the 350Z is already a keeper. I'll upgrade them for HPDE and mountain roads. I enjoy the mechanical work as much as driving. maybe more. my question about FI has basically been answered by @Escobar re: dealing with heat soak. his post caused me to look at the vortec again. and I just started thinking, why not? then helping a friend install a vortec on his '06 Mustang GT let me see a V-3 up close. options are limited, living in CA. so this is a compelling upgrade for a paid off car.
