HPDE at BeaveRun, PA, June 5-6
BeaveRun, in western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh, is one of the tracks I'd like to run this year. NASA-Ohio is having a 2-day HPDE event there Sat-Sun, June 5-6.
Here's the NASA registration page, and the BeaveRun page.
It's only 430 miles from downtown Chicago, 300 miles from Fort Wayne, 275 miles from DC, 200 miles from Columbus, and a mere 80 miles from Akron.
I haven't signed up yet, but I'm pretty sure I will.
Anyone else want to join me? If we get 10, we can probably get a discount off the $285 fee ($195 for one day), like we did at Mid-Ohio. (Thank you, John!)

I think this is going to be my next track event. I can't register until after the first week of May though. As James mentioned, if we can get 10, we get a 10% discount.
Only 447 miles????
I'd love to try another track, but...........
I think I'll pass till the VIR CarGuys event in August, with a return trip stop back to Mid-Ohio with NASA. Can't let that track get the better of me!
I'm pumped to get back to the Farm 5/5

447 miles is chump change Bruce... hell, Mid-Ohio is 440-480 for me...
Anyways, I'm planning on making BeaveRun my next event. It'd be a good way for me to get into the spirit of things since I'm driving up to the Canadian GP the weekend thereafter....

So, can anyone make it? John seems to be too busy smashing into animals and concrete poles, but it would be fun to have some other Zs there with me, even if we don't have enough to get a discount.
Lawrence Mansier says there are about five spots left in each of the run groups, so you'd better decide soon. Like, the next few days. I'll check the hotel situation and let you know where I'm booking.
C'mon! It'll be fun!

So, will I see anyone from here there?

Dang, I'm going to be in pittsburgh this weekend. Unfortunately I didn't know about this until it was too late. The registration site says everything is full, or I would have tried to go.

It might be worth e-mailing Lawrence Mansier and asking if there's any chance of a last-minute sign up. And unless he says absolutely, positively no room, you might just want to show up and see if they'll let you in. Be there early on Saturday morning, cash in hand, and see what happens. I'd guess your odds would be better than 50%. If the weather's threatening, your chances will improve.
The worst that could happen if they don't let you in is that you watch some interesting cars in HPDE and racing sessions for a while. And if they let me go solo, I'll take you for a ride in my car.
I mention showing up early since they may have a rule about having to attend a driver's meeting before you're allowed on track. So if you just show up at noon, they might have space on track but the rules could say no way.
Also, there's probably a better chance of getting in on Sunday than on Saturday.
Think it over and come on out if you can. You can just come and watch for a few hours, even if you don't want to go (or aren't allowed) on track.
Hope to see you there.
