Default Anyone Using Slotted Rotors?

The cracking on my stock Brembo rotors has gone far enough, so I've got to replace them. I'm thinking about these one-piece slotted rotors from 350EVO.com.

But I'm concerned about excessive pad wear. Has anyone else used them or other slotted rotors? How fast did you run through pads, and what pads were you using?

Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions? Thanks.

(For those who don't know me, I run 10-20 HPDE track days a year. The car is stock, and I'm using Carbotech Panther + pads.)

Well slotted rotors generally won't crack and I doubt 350EVO would sell something half-***. Is it really necessary to run slotted/drilled rotors anyways? I think there are other ways to improve your braking system (although I don't know what your current upgrades are).

When it comes time to replace my rotors, I will be going the slotted route.

James, as you know I have been running slotted Stoptech rotors for over a year. I don't think the pad wear is affected at all by the slots. I also have been running the Panther + during the racing season, I switch back to stock pads for the winter.

I'll suggest you go for the slotted rotors. The slots are for releasing gases, not to machine the pads. Carbotech also offers slotted rotors......

I get about 7 track days out of my front pads......you might not get as many with the Brembo's, as they are a little smaller.

BTW......are you going to VIR & Mid-Ohio in August? I most likely will!

James:
I am running 14.1" StopTechs with slotted rotors and Axxis Ultimate pads. I have three track events on them (Buttonwillow, Sears Point, Willow Springs) and they have lots of pad left. And my car is a couple hundred pounds heavier than your Z.
Drilling is not necessary any longer, and in fact unnecessarily weakens rotor structure and takes away mass that is useful inabsorbing heat. The slots are effective in removing gasses so drilling is now largely just for looks (acknowledgement that it does look good).

I switched to BrakePro/dba slotted rotors on my Track and have noticed no difference in pad wear. BTW, I am using stock pads.

I'll echo the comments above. My 13" stoptechs (slotted) don't seem to be accelerating pad wear. In fact, with the StopTechs and brake ducts, I can do a full season on two sets of PF01s. That's around 15 track days per set of pads and is by far the best that I've ever experienced.

Rear pads on the other hand are a different story...

Also, keep in mind my pads are higher temp than the Panther + and the heat will kill those pads quicker.
