Default Nissan Motorsports VQ35DE Comp head kit

Nissan Motorsport's new catalog is out. Of interest in the Z33 section is the following: "Part # 99996-VQ35K- Competition head kit includes 2 bare heads with 46 cc combustion chambers, titanium valves, springs, retainers, calve caps. High compression; final machining necessary; for race use only."

Apologizes to those who might think this should be posted in the engine/tranny/drivetrain area. This news should be of primary interest to hardcore racers and particularly those who race SCCA GT2. No price quoted in the catalog, but count on the kit being $$$!

Well. Actually there was a topic about this in the Engine thread. Us street guys talked this to death in hopes of putting it on our cars. But it appears this is race only. I still have a little hope for it.

Here is the thread.

Thanks for the link. Interesting discussion, but it illustrates why this discussion belongs in the racing section. Notice that this Nissan Motorsports part # also includes Ti valves, springs, retainers and valve caps, not just the heads as Jeff and Jason were working with. These parts were designed to be used in a specific race application (hence the warning) and are not intended for any tupe of "bolt-on" street application. Kudos to Nissan Motorsports (not to be confused with Nismo) for developing this kit for racers in the U.S.

No problem. Eventually in the thread. They figured it out and needed all that stuff you mentioned in order to get it to work. And they sell them. Nismo head 46cc head,Ti valves, springs, retainers and valve caps. They also supplied a warning as well. That this is for race applications only. I think they mentioned or one of our austrailian counterparts mentioned that compression is raised to like 12.5 to 1. Which is like bringing a gun to knife fight for the streets. So the NA folks(me included) where bummed about that. But the glimmer of hope(at least for the FI crowd) is lowering compression by using the Nismo 8.5.1 pistons. See here.
