Default B-Stock, the s2000s are gone!

The S2000s are just a BoD vote away from being gone from B-Stock starting January 1, 2005! Along with the Boxters and Z4s as well!

BS will have a whole new look next year, and hopefully the 350Z will be able to get a few trophies, if not a national championship next year in Solo 2!!

IF s2Ks are gone, who are we going to compete with? In 50% of my autoxes I'm the only guy with non-s2K car in BS

350Zs! RX-8s, M3s (e36 I think is the model), Turbo MR2s, Porsche 968s

There are plenty of other cars for BS, most of them just quit coming out at the rise of the S2k

half the time I'll be the only car in my class here in Great Lakes region. I guess I'll start winning a lot

Yeah, it feels really good knowing the SCCA felt bad for us Z owners and moved the competitive cars up a class. A week ago I actually had some motivation to work on my car...

I have to agree with Vlad. Without the S2000 it's going to be harder to get any competition since the only other regular will be alone in AS. Unless more Z owners figure out that it's just as much fun to race as wash & wax their cars, it's going to be lonely. There is a RX-8 that showed up lately but he was pretty discouraged after the last event.

I'm considering moving up my schedule for race tires so I can run against the S2000 by the end of the year. I'd realllllyyyyy like to beat him just once.

On a local level this may be true for most people, it's the national level that concerns me more. Locally I don't have any competition as it is, S2k or not.

Well I'm just wondering what the car to have in BS is ging to be in 05 350z, rx8, Mr2 turbo, or porsche

I'm leaning toward setting up a Z for 05 but the lack of - camber up front and good rubber for the 18's is discouraging.

Hopefully BS won't be a single car class, maybe that's inevitable, but we can always hope

I don't really care about local events. I would have fun in any car. I want to set up a car that can win a class divisionally and nationally. Right now I think that the rx8 has a slight edge over the Z in BS but you never know what car will dominate.

We've had a lot of discussion in the Audi Chicago chapter about whether we should allow convertibles (miata's, s2000, 3-series, etc.) I think in the long run we will just follow the SCCA ruling.

This weekend I was second, loosing to S2K 0.04 sec. I was kind of hoping to get him next year!

For local competition this really changes nothing. If you still want to compair your times to S2ks you can do that without any problems, it's just numbers.

I don't see how Z drivers expect to improve in 2005 as the real benchmark will be gone. It's fun to slack on preparation and still win, but it's a big loss for the few Z drivers who wanted to bust *** and really give the S2000s a good run for their money.

Alright, as I stated above, the benchmark is still there, it's all numbers, just compare it after the event is over

The numbers showed, and the SEB approved, that the S2k could compete with the C4 in AS, along with the other AS cars.

I don't see BS as an easy win for any 350Z driver next year, Nationally there will be other cars coming out of the woodwork to make things difficult, and give any of the current BS cars a run for their money.

968 porsche should be a good car along with mr2 turbo or RX8 I really don't see the 350z becoming the favorite car in the class.

A couple guys in my region are going to 968s. Ron Bauer (EVO instructor, and won DS in 2003 in a BMW) is supposedly going to a 968 this year as well.. look for him to win or place at Nats if he takes the 968 seriously.

Yes the S2K is gone. That helps the Z a bunch. Bad news is the MR2 Turbo is still there! After running my Old S2K and a Underprepped MR2 back to back over a year ago I made my own opinion that it could just about compete with the S2K. I've had a few laps in some 350z's and I had a little bit of a different opinion. So by booting the S2K IMHO all the SCCA has done is handed the class to a good driver who manages to find a Porsche 968 or Toyota MR2 turbo thats still stock and in decent shape.

Good news... Those cars are few and far between.
Bad news... once someone finds one it's all over.
I know multiple people disagree that the Mr2 can hang with an S2K. BUT I think it can edge out the rest of the class. Keep in mind I know the person who bought Carters Old MR2 and the Dyno sheet that came with the car was pretty impressive. I'd bet Carter hit some 13second 1/4 miles in that thing, B-Stock legal!

Just my .02
