Z1 Upgraded 350Z Hatch Struts

after installing these the hatch requires that i open it twice with the button to actually open. the first bump unlocks it but the latch is still hooked. any one else with this issue?

That's correct, it's the rear hatch bumper that kicks the rear hatch up enough to disengage when hitting the unlock button. I'm pretty sure there is a thread on that. (Z1 sells those too)
I also just got the Z1 struts and installed them today. I must be the unlucky guy. I could not get the upper ball stud removed from the hatch. The open end wrench was damaging the hex. I used a cut-off grinding wheel to cut off the upper ball. I could then get a 6-point socket on the remaining stud and it loosened with no problem. If others have the same issue, PM me and I can send some pictures.
