Z1 Upgraded 350Z Hatch Struts
Have to say. Z nationals was a blast and I'm glad I got to attend. Purchased the angled plenum spacer and mhp hatch struts. installed sun morning-worked awesome. Going to get some dyno results soon. Well appreciated guys. Super clean shop glad I got to check it out!!!
Hatch struts in stock.
I received my new Z1 UHP lift supports yesterday afternoon and installed them. Can't tell you how pleased I am. I have an 04 Track model which comes with the small spoiler on the hatch. Nissan did a warranty replacement of the lift supports when the car was about 18 months old. Recently, the hatch wouldn't stay up if it wasn't pretty warm out. It had gotten to the point that the hatch wouldn't "pop" when I wanted to open it and I had to pull up on the hatch when I pushed the release button on my key or pushed the button above the license plate.
I had priced the lift supports at three different auto parts stores and the best price I found was $45.00 each, with a 1 year warranty. I called the Nissan dealer that is our club sponsor and offers us a 25% discount on parts. The pricing was different for the right side versus the left side(???)and the total with the discount would have been $350.00 plus tax. Unreal. I bought the lift supports from O'Reilly's for $59.99 each because they have a lifetime warranty. I put them on and they hold the hatch up, but the hatch wouldn't "pop", so I decided to look at My350Z.com for answers.
I purchased them from Z1 Motorsports and installed the Z1 UHP lift supports and all is good now, at way less money spent. The hatch "pops", it stays up, and I really have to pull down on it to close it. That's good, as they will probably last a lot longer than regular
lift supports. Happy, happy!

Installed my MHPs which provide the perfect strength with the factory non spoiler hatch. One issue, now the button to pop the hatch doesn't lift the hatch enough to release from the latch. I have to lift on the hitch as I press the button in order for the hatch to release from the latch.
Did I botch the install or is this proper function of the MHPs?
