pics in your car? you got any?
|
anyone got update on this?
might be interested in following suite, depends on final product quality |
Yeah does anyone have any HQ pics of this? It just seems like some pics the final job looks great, others make me question doing it.
Also, I didn't seem to notice anyone answering, does the headliner smudge or rub off if you brush against it? Thanks for the help guys... |
good work.. i actually did this to my 240sx using the same paint from what I remember, the results were amazing, it looked like thats the way it came from factory.
|
Looks great.

My main concern about this was the smell of spray paint and since someone already addressed that i was wondering if you could dye the fabrics instead of spray painting them, the color would come out alot smoother and there would be no problem with the warning label or the mirror. just a thought =).
PS very nice write up, i woulda never even though of the dye idea if it wasnt for this thread. nice results too. |
How did you remove the little wire that connects to the base assembly where the 2 screws are?
|
just did mine
pull the wires out gently and a connector piece will be visible. Remove the connection and the visor is free.
Came out great......good work nice thread |
Looks good in picture but probably crap in person. IMO stuff will stick to it more.
|
I Hate the smell of the paint. you can't get rid of it.. thats the only problem..worst then the smell of cigs or your fat friend farting in your car...

WE NEED some DIY instructions on how to get the headliner out
|
I agree..DIY PICs of taking the headliner out..
BTW What did you guys do with that decal on the sunvisors? Did ya'll just peel it off? |
Blackout Headliner
I got tired of the two-tone colors and decided to paint it flat black.
Taking off the headliner wasn't so bad - putting it back on was a huge pain in the butt! It's not perfect, but I love it. I aired it out for a day - and after 4 days the paint smell's pretty much gone. :) http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/...50z/photo1.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/...50z/photo3.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/...50z/photo2.jpg http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/...phd/350z/4.jpg |
...
looks great blurazr!!

Hmm.
The last set of pics look good. FLAT black trim spray is def a necessity for the pastic pieces, not gloss.. stands out like a sore thumb otherwise. letting it sit outside in direct sunlight during the day would be key. it needs to outgas.. and the longer its not hit w heat and UV, the longer it will outgas in your car.. Id reccomend hangin it w a hook thru a few of those visor holes so dirt has less chance of gathering from wind. Aisde from all that.. I was just in fer pics.. and the last few pics almost sold me.....but now Im thinking Im just going to wrap the pastics in DiNOC dry carbon film i have laying around since ive gotten pretty good at that.....and have the visors and headliner professionaly upholstered in all black suede when my sunroof goes in this summer. (Ill be doing the dash and parts of door panels myself when they are actually ready to be installed.. carbon fiber door panels= bigger PITA than anythng ive ever done to my car. ) |

I really wanted to wrap my headliner in suede - but I'll save that for summer. |
Very nice job, blurazr! Love the new flat black look.
|
great job this the first thing i disliked about my z .. and i will be doing this as well glad to see others agreed and had this idea too
|
I reckon this looks the dogs bollocks and wonder why nobody has done it before. The visors look really trick and the previous entry about there being fade out is, I'm pretty sure just the photograph. I reckon 702Fairlady has started a new trend and they'll be quite a few Zeds running around with black visors and headlining. A good job done well.
