DIY Wiper blade removal and color matched plug install
First off the contact i got the plug from is not a vendor but may become one if and when there is some interest in his products. That being said I cannot post his contact info here in this post. So if you guys want this let me know and i can pass on the interest so he can join the community!
The plug is plastic but airbrushed with factory colored paint. Which means guys like me with PPW will have some slight discoloration given the way pearl paint yellows over time. Enough about that heres some pics and some instructions for you.
- install time was 20 minutes
- tools needed, flat head screw driver (or panel puller tool), 12mm and 10mm sockets. rubbing alcohol (optional), Silicon spray (optional),
Looking at the kit i installed you get a color matched plug thats on a small piece of plexi glass as a backing. Also included is a plug for the windshield nozzle. (see pics) I opted not to install this as i didn't mind the way the factory looks and did not want to mess with the wiper fluid lines.
As you can see the plexi glass (plastic
) backing has some 3m double back adhesive tape that keeps the plug in place.

*instructions are included with the kit so I am going to be brief but give pointers*
Next up:
-Simply remove the plastic cover at the base of the wiper blade and remove the 12mm nut.
- after this you need to remove the blade assembly from the bolt (motor)
be careful if the assembly doesn't come easily use some liquid silicon to help with this.

- Conclusions -
The kits well made its a great design, you may want to use a silicon water sealant around the plug (the creator of the kit says its optional) I didn't because i did not have any around the garage.
The color match is better than the new paint job i had on my front bumper 3 months ago!
It's overall a easy mod, the instructions are great. And here are some before and after pics of the plug.
This looks 100% better than the black generic looking plugs especially on PPW cars.
My vote is we get this guy to be in the inventor/vendor section of the forum. Give me some feedback and I will pass it along
Here are some be-4 and after pics:
