^Congratulations, we all know he used 1000grit that's not the point. Even though the gloss has been restored, the scratch marks are still there, they're just shiny. To the average nobody they won't see/care about it. IF YOU HATE THE SWIRLS ON YOU CAR DO NOT DO THIS!!

Whoa whoa whoa cowboy lol. No need to get your panties in a wad. I was simply asking him to post better pictures of the hood in the sun. No way would an orbital buffer get rid of 1000grit scratches.
To those of you that want to get rid of the oxidation AND scratches you'll need to follow up with 1500, 2000 grit along with a rotary buffer.
I've had great results with the DeWalt 849 rotary and the wool/foam pad:

yea i know what you meant about the scratches in the sun, but i havent got around to taking pics in the sun i keep forgetting but i mean anyone who has a oxidized cf hood i know it really bothers them i mean it bothered me and i didnt wanna waste 150 on restoring it..the only thing that needs to be done after this step is to go get it clear coated again or you can give it a shot and do it yourself..also the scratches arent that noticeable on a cf hood compared to a colored hood..but i mean im happy with my results..and your input is always helpful for others to actually perfect the removing of oxidation...and im jus glad ive helped atleast one person with this diy

how long do you think it takes an out of the box seibon CF hood in DD conditions with common rain to start looking beat up? just curious. I don't want to take any preventative measures, I will just get it painted like I originally planned to when it starts looking bad .. : P

mine took over a year with no waxing... but its pretty bad now and im going to do this but im going to only use 2000 grit... i know it take more passes but it will be fine enough that when i clear and buff properly it will be like glass haha Im having my boss (specializes in paint and restoration) and another friend that works at a body shop help.. ill post pics of my endeavor too...
