Stock L.E.D. mod/replacement
Like the title say's, a replacement mod for the stock alarm/indicator l.e.d. on the top of the dash. very simple mod, only takes about 15 minutes.
Tools/supplies needed:
Wire cutters, solder gun (optional), heat shrink (optional), electrical tape, drill and corresponding bit, small slot tip (flathead) screw driver, 1 l.e.d. (your choice on color/brand etc)
The l.e.d. I chose was a simple one from pep boy's that came in a 3 pack for 10 bucks. -The reason I chose that type is that it doesn't need a resistor or anything. You could also use one of the super-bright led's from/for an alarm that you can pick up at a car audio shop or in the accessories at a circuit city or someplace similar.
here's a pic of what i used...

First thing you'll do is take the small flat head and gently wedge the tip under the lamp housing on the left (driver's) side of the dash (from the center console side so you have leverage) and pop the housing out of the dash. (you may have to pry a little from the opposite side as well)
Once you get it out you have two options, simply cut the wire leading to the harness on the lamp housing or try and take the housing for the stock led out, but doing this make no sense since your replacing the led anyways. so, I simply cut the two wires right at the base of the housing so i'd have plenty of wire to play with. The wiring going to it will pull right out of the dash (about 10-12" of wiring) with little effort.
Now that the housing is out you will notice the led housing inside of it. simply disconnect it (push clips) from the assembly.
now you'll have the stock led holder as a paper weight

now you'll take the housing and drill out the stock clear portion in it with the appropriate sized bit. very easy to do and very little resistance as it is extremely thin. I did it from the top down using an 1/8" bit.

now mount the new led in the hole you just drilled. i mounted mine by placing it in the hole and adding a few drops of super-glue around it's edges to ensure a moisture proof seal between the led and the plastic housing.

once that's dried, it's now time to connect the led to the stock wiring. the two stock wires are red and green green is negative and red is power. hook up the wires (solder if your going to solder), wrap them in your electrical tape or heat shrink etc. and your ready to put it back in. feed the wiring back into the dash

and your ready to try it out.........
off......

and on.......

now you have an led in your dash that's visiable for more than 4". this one you should be able to see across the parking lot. as you can see in the pic above, it's bright even in the daylight. mines been done for a few months now and no issues. comes on and off with the key out of the ignition.
and just for the sake of it......here's a pic of my z i put it in.....

hope this helps all of you out there. just thought it was a good, simple and effective mod. (and cheap too
) happy motoring.........

From red to blue? On a blue car its worth exactly 22HP. however on a red car it takes away 11HP. The world has to equal out... black cars lose 9HP IIRC. I can't remember the loss/gain on all other colors...give me a few shots of whiskey and I'll throw some out there.

I left a meeting with one of my mentors recently with a page of fabulous next steps for my coaching, workshop, and book Business. There were probably 10 actionable items noted on the page, each one of which was the tip of a project iceberg. I left the meeting in full overwhelm. It's not as if I'm underutilized these days!I took the page back to wow gold my office and put it on my desk where I could see it while I did other work. Now and then I would look over at the page and feel awful. Before the afternoon was out I realized a few things about me and that page.First, I realized that I wished I was "the kind of person who" could knock off some of those items in no time flat. wow gold Someone who could devote a couple of hours one evening and crank out high level results for, say, half of the items on the list. And then do the other half the next morning. But I am not that person, and I felt diminished by my less than favorable comparison. Then I realized that:maple story powerlevelingI had completely imagined this brilliantly efficient person who could work oh-so-much-faster and better than I can. As soon as I had invented her, maple story powerleveling I went into a compare-and-despair routine, which did not support me to take any action. Since I had invented this character who was a better me than I was, I could also make her disappear. So I made her disappear. At that point, my resistance fell away, and I could finally take on the list for what it simply WAS: some potential projects for 2006. I stopped being overwhelmed. Now I could actually do something useful. My first order of business was to identify which projects I wanted to take on, period. And then to prioritize: which tip of which iceberg would be first in line. And my second order of Business was to schedule some project time into my calendar for Iceberg #1. At this point I became energized.Very often, what's at the heart of feeling overwhelmed is resisting your limits. A panicked lawyer client with pneumonia, sick children, and a huge trial coming up expected herself to pull all-nighters as she had when she was in college. Once she accepted that she was no longer as "invincible" as she had been in her younger, simpler circumstances, she was able to get over her panic, plan how to use her limited resources strategically, and get going. What personal or structural limitation are you resisting? If you can accept the real limits of your circumstances, chances are good you can move beyond feeling overwhelmed and get back to work, which is where the breakthroughs happen.A steady diet of feeling overwhelmed is not good for you.Copyright 2006 Sharon Teitelbaum. should be 6-8" of wire in there at the least. get's caught up sometimes because of the foam wrapping on it. just play with the wire a little bit and you'll have plenty of slack to work with. glad you liked the mod though!
