well the isse w cars that have the LED DRLs is that they are nice LEDs first off, and 2nd, they are in tiny reflector housings.. so the whole thing gets very directional and shapely. Just wiring up leds only gives us "dots".. thers no reflector to it.. i was pressed for time.. but as i go< im going to keep my eye open for something to put directly behind the halos that is reflective towards the front.. will amplify the light to a very large degree..
I will say that the AAC halo that shows on the outside is bright as FUUUH. In a pitch black garage they cast a rediculous amount of light, especially when they are all fired up.
Cant wait to see what they look like w the driving lights i built in the bumper below ( veilside)
(I bought a set of ebay projector lens metal lights.. ditched the guts, yanked the wriring out the back.. installed a slim 40 dollar ebay HID h3 kit in 3k yellow, then used 100% silicone to seal up the back, and also heat molded yellow headlight film over the projector bulb to increase the yellow. Its awesome.. they light and the cut off is flat..pretty rad. )
I still ( STILL) dont have my car back, so theres been no updates to this yet on my side of things.
Someone asked for a parts list:
Most all of it comes from one vendor, theretrofitsource.com.. i dealt w Andrew.
I bought 90 mm CCFL Morimoto Halos, and did NOT opt for dual output ballasts. They arent as bright.
I used thier premium STI R lens
I used thier Oxy butyl glue.. enuff for several lights btw.
( i do this on the side now, at least the painting part.. getting these lights apart correctly shouldnt require any new glue at all to reinstall. )
The exterior halo was an AAC Oracle product and was 170 bucks. i got it in 6k white.
The Red leds were ebay 12v standard leds.
The clear turn signal cover is just vinyl like i wrapped my car with.. if i dont like it, i can remove it. matches my car 100%.
I have an assortment of headlight parts laying around now from other lights ive done, so i can swap around when i feel like it.
Keep in mind the iron man shape is not all were limited to.. the entire projector housing nose you see is clear under that paint..if someone were to media blast the entire thing the whole thing would glow.

^uh.. wha?
Halos are 18 bucks a pair for the proper product.. CCFL.. and are less than 30 for LED rings that are already created in a perfect circle. Not sure why anyone would want to rig it by making thier owm.. dunno.

for anyone still subscribed to this, heres a link to a short ( and very informal video, cell phone style)... gives you an idea as to how insanely bright i got these to turn out ( i have to reopen one to fix an LEd up near the top still..yes i did notice already).. i finally grabbed my battery from the shop and fired these up w real amperage... versus a wall plug 12v power supply that i had previously been limited to..
The camera is blind until it reduces the apperature to the brightness of the lights.. then you can see what were really looking at.. they do not appear as a blur to the eye at any point, only the camera.. they are very sharp and crisp.. i sure hope they last for awhile.. lol.

got bored, hacked some greddy DRL strip[s and made them bright as OEM Benz Audi etc.. not the cheapo 3m strip action lol. v-leds 5k 12" strip mated to a polished acrylic blade.. glued to the underside of the headlight.. shines thru the bumper gap.. about a 1/16 in thick.. very bright..
very ricey yes, just figured id do em cuz i could.. and they can be used in the daytime now if i want.. or not. .
mind you, when they are off, you can see absoolutley nothing, zero, nada.
This is NOT a led strip stuck to my headlight lol.
