Default DIY: Faded / Foggy Headlight Repair

Not so much a DIY as a tip. Don't waste your money on those cheap headlight restoration kits. The only one that really works is this. I was extremely impressed with the results, and it's been a year now and they still look great.

There is a DIY video they made in the above link that explains how it works.

Not that this isn't blatant advertising, but do you have a link to the video?

I don't work for Autozone or Sylvania I just spent a lot of time researching headlight restoration so I wouldn't screw up my $600 a piece headlight assemblies. The thing that sets the Sylvania kit apart is the UV clear coat that you apply afterward. I also think that since Sylvania makes headlights they probably know best how to fix them too. Autozone doesn't keep the Sylvania kit with the other cheap-o kits either, it was over with the headlight bulbs. I had to ask someone where to find it.

Yeah the uv coating is fairly unique to this kit it seems.

There is a DIY headlight restoration thread in the DIY section. The process uses a UV clear coat. No "kit" was used, just materials purchased from a local home depot/lowes

I looked at that thread, he basically uses the same stuff that comes in that kit. The kit only costs $20 and you don't need to bother mixing the clear coat. I probably could have done a couple of cars with the one kit, but I ran out of the "surface activator" which I think is just some sort of alcohol. I still have a ton of the clear coat left over.
